Takeda Launches Dengue Vaccine

Kuala Lumpur, June 11: Takeda Malaysia announced the launch of Qdenga®, a dengue tetravalent vaccine, now available for individuals aged 4 and older in private hospitals and clinics.
Approved by the Drug Control Authority (DCA) Malaysia, Qdenga® offers protection against all four dengue virus serotypes.
“Effective dengue prevention requires a multi-faceted approach. The availability of Qdenga® is a crucial addition to the current integrated dengue prevention and management strategies in Malaysia,” said Dr. Lynette Moey, Country General Manager, Takeda Malaysia & Singapore.
In Malaysia, dengue cases rose significantly in 2023, with 123,133 cases reported, marking an 86.3 per cent increase from the previous year.
The vaccine has shown 80.2 per cent efficacy in preventing symptomatic dengue and 90.4 per cent efficacy in preventing hospitalisations.
Professor Datuk Dr. Zulkifli Ismail, Chairman of Dengue Prevention Advocacy Malaysia, emphasized the importance of a unified effort, including vaccination, to combat dengue. Qdenga® has been approved in over 30 countries and is recommended by WHO for inclusion in public immunization programs.

Zscaler, Google Collaborate

Sydney, June 12: Zscaler has strengthened its partnership with Google to advance Zero Trust strategies. The integration with Chrome Enterprise offers enhanced threat and data protection without legacy VPNs. Zscaler’s collaboration with Google Workspace prevents data exfiltration from apps like Gmail and Drive, while their integration with Google Security Operations enhances threat detection and investigation.
This partnership aims to simplify secure access and improve security operations for enterprises.

commercetools Unveils Solution

Sydney, June 12: commercetools has launched commercetools for Healthcare, a HIPAA-compliant and HDS-certified solution designed for healthcare companies in the US and France.
The new solution ensures secure processing of Protected Health Information (PHI) and complies with data regulations.
With 60+ healthcare customers, including Alcon Vision and Cepheid, commercetools aims to enhance secure commerce experiences and improve operational efficiency.
The platform’s features include premium audit logs, dedicated data storage spaces, and mandatory employee training on HIPAA and HDS.

Kuala Lumpur, June 13: Alpro Pharmacy has launched the Alpro Eats Programme to combat child malnutrition in Malaysia, starting in Negeri Sembilan.
The National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) 2022 revealed that 1 in 5 Malaysian children are malnourished, with six per cent overweight.
Dr. Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan from the Ministry of Health emphasizes the need for collaborative efforts.
The Alpro Eats Programme includes the Nutrition Canteen Guide, Healthy Diet School Talks, and My Healthy Growth Journey.
These initiatives aim to improve school meals, educate students on healthy eating, and provide personalised nutrition plans.
“This e-book chronicles Alpro Eats’ remarkable journey,” says Dt Jayne Luah, Chief Dietitian at Alpro Pharmacy. “We believe every child deserves healthy food, and Alpro Eats is our commitment to a healthier future, one bite at a time.”
The launch event was attended by officials from Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Sembilan and educators, highlighting the shared mission to promote healthy eating habits.
Robiah Kasim, headmistress at Sekolah Kebangsaan Ampangan, Seremban, praised the programme: “We are impressed by the combined approach of education and practical implementation. Empowering students and staff through healthy eating habits and canteen guidelines is crucial. I look forward to future collaborations.”
