Hong Kong, March 7: Lenovo hosted its first-ever Tech World event in Hong Kong, bringing together global tech leaders and innovators to spotlight the company’s commitment to AI-driven transformation in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.
The event highlighted Lenovo’s “AI for All” vision, demonstrating the company’s pivotal role in democratizing AI technology.
Ken Wong, Lenovo’s Global President of Solutions and Services Group, spearheaded the discussions, presenting insights from a global survey on the adoption and challenges of artificial intelligence in the corporate sector.
The survey revealed a strong AI investment trend among Hong Kong’s CIOs, with 95% stating their AI budgetary needs are being fully met or surpassed, and 44% reporting access to more funds than required. Notably, generative AI emerged as a key value driver, with over half of the respondents acknowledging its significant impact on business operations.
Despite the optimistic investment landscape, the survey identified hurdles in AI scalability, such as security concerns, market readiness, and talent acquisition, with a majority of CIOs emphasizing the critical role of human capital in advancing AI technologies.
Moreover, the survey indicated a need for enhanced understanding and implementation of AI at the leadership level, with only 35% of CIOs confident in their leadership’s grasp of AI technologies.
Ken Wong emphasized the necessity of equipping IT departments to leverage AI effectively, ensuring ethical, secure, and compliant AI applications. To address the talent gap, Lenovo is collaborating with educational institutions across Hong Kong to nurture a skilled workforce capable of driving AI innovation and scalability.
Tech World also showcased Lenovo’s strategic efforts to make AI universally accessible and impactful, including partnerships aimed at ethical AI application and technological innovations that cater to both individual and enterprise needs.
Among the showcased solutions were the Care-of-One system, enhancing employee well-being and efficiency, and the Lenovo Intelligent Sustainability Solutions Advisor, which assists organizations in understanding the environmental ramifications of IT decisions.
Additionally, the Cyber Resiliency as a Service offering, developed in collaboration with Microsoft, aims to bolster IT security for local businesses.
Lenovo’s involvement in transforming Hong Kong into a smart city and tech hub was a key focus, with initiatives such as the AI Professional Services Practice and the AI Innovators Program highlighted for their role in accelerating AI adoption and fostering industry collaboration.
“Lenovo is at the forefront of the AI revolution, steering towards a future where technology enriches lives, drives sustainability, and fosters a smarter, more inclusive world,” Wong concluded, reiterating Lenovo’s commitment to leading AI innovation for the betterment of Hong Kong and beyond.
