“Biome” is a nature-themed strategy game designed for 1-4 players, featuring over 120 different plants and animals. It emphasizes card placement and tableau building, with the gameplay evolving through the four seasons, each presenting unique challenges and opportunities to promote biodiversity.
The game encourages strategic thinking and interaction among players through its dynamic gameplay and beautifully crafted wooden components.
Leonie Grundler, who transitioned from a tech career at Airbnb to pursue her passion in board games, developed “Biome” after being inspired by her experiences in Berlin’s board game cafes.

After 18 months of development, “Biome” is set to make a significant impact in a market where less than four per cent of top board game designers are women, bringing a fresh perspective and diversity to the industry.
The game has already received accolades from gaming influencers and designers for its engaging mechanics, thematic depth, and educational value.
Additionally, a portion of the profits will be donated to the Wildlife Conservation Network, further underlining the game’s commitment to environmental awareness and conservation.
Lioness Games aims to continue developing unique games that not only offer fun and strategic depth but also contribute positively to the community and the environment.
With “Biome,” they’re off to a promising start, changing narratives and setting new standards in the board game industry.
