Kota Kinabalu, Jan 26: The Sabah Tourism Board (STB) has once again been recognized for its excellence in the tourism sector, securing the Silver award at the prestigious Putra Aria Brand Awards 2023 in the Transportation, Travel, and Tourism category. This achievement follows their Bronze award win in the same category in 2022.
The Putra Aria Brand Awards, initiated in 2022 by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As), are known as the People’s Choice Awards.
They celebrate brands that resonate strongly with Malaysians.
The winners are selected based on an extensive online research survey, with over 11,000 participants contributing their opinions over an eight-week period from September to October 2023.

Datuk Johnny Mun, Organising Chairman of the Putra Brand Awards 2023, praised the awards as a unique recognition that money cannot buy, emphasizing that they are directly chosen by the public.
Sabah’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Christina Liew, expressed her pride in the STB’s achievement, highlighting the significance of progressing to a higher award tier compared to the previous year.
She pointed out that this success is a testament to the board’s dedication and hard work.
Liew also mentioned that Sabah had exceeded its tourism target for 2023, with the region attracting about 2.6 million tourists, surpassing the initial goal of 2.2 million.
This positive momentum is set to continue, with a target of 2.8 million arrivals set for this year.
She stressed the importance of reinstating flights and exploring new flight routes while emphasizing the need for developing high-quality tourism products and services.
According to Liew, these efforts are crucial in ensuring that visitors to Sabah have unforgettable experiences.
