As 2022 comes to an end, we see many changes are happening in Malaysia.
Truth be told, some are good, and some are questionable.
As the opposition, it is my duty to point out what is questionable to ensure that the government will be able to help those that are directly affected by their actions, to make sure that all voices are heard no matter what.
The choice of the 10th Prime Minister to dismantle the National Recovery Plan (NRP) and intend to do the same with the Global Infrastructure Anti-Corruption Center (GIACC) is clearly debatable.
First and foremost, it must be noted that NRP was specifically established to help our country recover from the waves of the pandemic that was around for nearly three years.
Despite the pandemic being subtle as of now, I believe that NRP is a platform for the government to stand prepared for unforeseen circumstances.
Demolishing it seems to be a bold move, especially when the government has yet to be transparent to the people regarding their plan on how they will recover the country fully when hit with such tragedies again.
The NRP has played a significant part in developing a system that is easily understood by the public, as well as in advising the government on what sorts of financing are essential and not necessary.
Overall, the major reason for the establishment is for the people, but it appears that the people have lost all their voices since they are now left with no plan to rely on.
The government should tell us what their next plan is to bring calmness and peace among the people.
Knowing that we could depend on our government, would be extremely crucial in times of national tragedy.
Our prime minister also mentioned how the government will revise the purpose of the GIACC just because they reckoned that there are other departments in the government that are built for the same purpose as the GIACC.
This is an understatement considering how big of a role GIACC plays in our country.
It protects the people of this nation from corrupted authorities specifically, considering how we have a lot of those running around.
A few controversial figures are in the government, as important ministers, and by demolishing GIACC, their crimes of corruption might never be revealed.
Therefore, overseeing GIACC must come in an unbiased manner, that would involve proper authorities.
Simply stating that it plays a such little role is not possible, considering how it can bring great change to the political stability of our country.
Being able to let corruption run free in our country is a big red flag for the people, especially for those who are already suffering in the first place.
The government should let GIACC continuously run its duties, or even better, strengthen its vision and mission to ensure that it aligns with the law.
Malaysia is a great country that is meant for advancement in the long run.
Political leaders are given the trust and responsibility to bring advancement to the people, for the people, and with the people.
It is not too late to reconsider what’s beneficial and what’s not.
Our journey doesn’t end here.
