I was recently given an AirFly (2nd Gen) headphone adapter to be reviewed for this esteemed publication.
In case you are wondering what an AirFly is, it is a wireless headphone adapter that lets you use your favourite wireless headphones or earbuds in places that only have a headphone jack – like planes and treadmill.

Setting It Up
All you need to do is to plug this tiny transmitter into a headphone jack in order to listen to in-flight movies or the TVs at the gym.
While the AirFly Pro lets two people listen to the same soundtrack, podcast or music with their favourite noise-cancelling headphones or AirPods.
I finally managed to test the unit myself while on my flight from Sydney to Noumea, yesterday.

Once paired, it was absolutely easy to use, giving you an amazing experience with all your audio needs.
Connecting the two devices – the Apple AirPods with the AirFly was easy all thanks to the clear instructions found on the manual.

All you need to do is to hit the button on your AirPod casing in order to pair it with your AirFly.
Once, both devices were successfully paired (the AirPods with the Airfly), it was immediately good to go.

The best thing about using the AirFly headphone adapter is that you get to go wireless on your flight and this means we can finally say goodbye to headphones with long tangly wires.

There is one thing to note though, I find that most times that the AirFly headphone adapter do work on the monitors or tiny screens that you find on aeroplanes but they CAN also work with the headphone connections found on the seats.
Please see the TikTok video below for a visual explanation.
Our Verdict
As for the sound, there were some instances where the sound quality from the Airpod was rather poor, choppy and robotic but I think that was due to the connection.
After moving the headphone adapter around for a bit in order for it to get better connection/reach, it immediately worked like a charm and I was finally able to watch the movie Barbarian with my AirPods paired with the AirFly headphone adapter with no fuss at all.
Here is what the AirFly headphone adapter would cost you if you are living in Australia ($104.95) and New Zealand ($119.99).
Our overall verdict: Worth the investment especially if you are a frequent flyer or a gym user.
