Make Movement Easier

Now that the Malaysia Day celebrations are over, let’s talk business.
Malaysia has always been a complex country on all fronts but what is even more perplexing is that the work rights are not all that same for those living in West and East Malaysia.
In other words, West Malaysians from the Peninsular cannot work in East Malaysia without a work permit.
Yes, this means if you are a West Malaysian from any state in the Peninsular, you cannot just rock up to Sabah and Sarawak for work or even to move over to start anew.
To get a work permit to work in these two states, it can only happen with a valid job offer from a company that is based in those two states.
I explain the complexities of these in more detail in a three minute TikTok video here.

Whatever said and done, I find that this needs to be rectified soon so that we as Malaysians can reap the benefits from all the 14 states in beautiful Malaysia.
In other words, I feel that movement between the Peninsular and the Eastern states should be fair and square and not lopsided as it is now.
Those in East Malaysia can more easily move over to the West and find work but unfortunately not those living in the east.
Now why am I urging for this to be unified now?
Because of Nusantara and I explain the reasoning in this Tik Tok video here
There are also many other things I would like to say, but I think this needs to be fixed first and as this would benefit a lot of Malaysians in the long run.
Anyway, for what is worth, Happy Malaysia Day and I hope you enjoyed your long three-day weekend.
