Sydney, Aug 30: Global travel search engine, Skyscanner, has revealed the top five cities and countries Aussies are booking travel to in summer 2022 – and they’re all overseas.
According to early Skyscanner trends data, cities across South-East Asia are leading the list of summer break destinations, as Aussies look to spend what will be for many, their summer break overseas for the first time in over two years and have listed five top travel destinations for summer.
It’s no surprise Bali is popular for summer 2022 trips with its vibrant culture, stunning natural landscapes and an average temperature of 31˚c during the summer months.
New Delhi, India has been revealed as a top trending destination. With many returning home to the city to visit friends and family, others seek to visit the bucket list destination and take in its exquisite culture and cuisine.
Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam has long been a favourite destination for Aussie travellers, and this summer is no exception. From its famous Banh-Mi to the stunning scenery, Ho Chi Minh has plenty to offer new and returning visitors this summer.
Seoul, South Korea comes on the list of top summer destinations. The combination of culture and modernity offers a unique travel experience where travellers can enjoy lively markets, its famous pop-culture scene, and impressive architecture.
As it heads into its dry season this December, Manila, Philippines, has climbed the ranks in popularity for travellers this summer.
Manila offers an abundance of attractions, including beautiful gardens and fascinating museums.
“Australians’ travel spirit is back in full force with strong demand for international travel since borders began opening earlier this year,” Skyscanner’s Aussie travel expert Brendan Walsh said.
The upcoming summer holiday period is no exception, with popular international destinations top of the agenda including Bali, Ho Chi Minh, Seoul and New Delhi.
“We can clearly see Aussies are making up for the time lost over the past two years when it comes to travel, and are excited to explore South-East Asia with many Aussies also appear to be taking this time as an opportunity to visit loved ones overseas, the first time many have seen each other in a number of years.”
