Sydney, April 29: Several days ago, I did the unthinkable, I sent out several cold email pitches to technology companies in Australia to introduce ourselves as a media outlet and to inform them that we would like to be considered to review any items that they would have on hand.
Several companies replied and one of them is JBL Australia and to my joy, it was in the affirmative.
Soon after my correspondence with them, they sent me the JBL Tour One headphones to review.
This headphone is the latest addition to its portfolio of the JBL Tour Series which is designed for smart professionals and young executives who are looking for headphones that sound fantastic and offer the latest technology in a sleek and comfortable design for a sharp price.
The series includes two headphone models but today’s review would only involve the JBL Tour One, the over-ear noise-cancelling headphone.
In addition to adaptive noise cancellation, the models come equipped with Hi-Res Certified JBL Pro Sound.
When I received the packaging last week, my first impression is that it would be perfect as a gift.
The headphones are quite easy to set up and it works as soon as the device is connected to Bluetooth.
I hate reading instructions but I must concede that JBL’s one was rather easy to read, with lots lot of graphics and the wordings are in large fonts making the person reading the manual understand the gist of the message almost instantly.
So, let’s get to the best part, the sound quality is simply amazing and if I were to have to coin a phrase to describe it aptly it simply would be ‘disco in my ears.’
This means the sound quality is pretty good, and if you are a novelist like me, you can actually have music playing with your favourite tunes while typing up your next best-seller.
As for its outlook, it is designed to be in all black, and sleek-looking but the best part is that it is actually quite a comfortable headphone to use except if you have earrings on.
So, make sure you remove your studs when you are on these headphones for a more comfortable experience.

The JBL Tour One headphones also offer a noise cancellation technology, which instantly monitors environmental sound and adapts to the perfect level of noise cancellation for the user’s environment.
So if you move from a plane to a train or bus to the streetscape, the headphones will adjust the noise cancellation accordingly.
SilentNow also gives users the ability to simply touch the dedicated button to activate noise cancellation mode without activating Bluetooth, for complete isolation from outside noise.
Users can have up to 50 hours of playback on the one charge in Bluetooth mode or up to 25 hours with noise cancellation on.
If you use your headphones for lots of phone calls, the 4 x mics on board ensure voice clarity and crystal clear calls.
The JBL Tour One also features Harman’s new Smart Audio Mode.
This technology allows users to optimise the Bluetooth connection for “normal listening,” increase fidelity in “music mode” or watch videos with the low latency “video mode.”
This headphone is definitely at the top of its game and can be purchased at jbl.com.au for a cool AU$349.95.
