Sydney, Feb 28: Not one but two classic Holdens broke records over the weekend of extremely rare models, where passionate bidding was evident throughout the entire auction with one of the highest amounts of classic cars selling under the hammer in a single auction.
Two highly anticipated Holdens which captured Australia’s attention throughout the week went under the hammer on Saturday, a one of one Prototype Holden survivor car VH SL/E Commodore and a 1968 Holden HK GTS Monaro 327 Bathurst Coupe.

The one of one prototype Holden is the first time it has ever been sold via public auction and both Holdens make records in being the most expensive price achieved for their models at auction.
Nearly 400 classic cars within the auction, ranging from Holdens and Fords through to American muscle and European luxury sold at the auction.

“This auction just proves that the value in classic cars is still going up and people are classifying them as an investment for the future and today the amount of sales would be one of our highest percentages selling under the hammer during the LIVE auction,” Lloyds Auctions Chief Operations Officer Lee Hames said.
“As we have seen in recent years, results consistently show that Australian classic vehicles that are in original condition, of limited build number, have a steel bumper, celebrity affiliation or significant provenance just continue to grow in value, and we have seen that here in today’s auction,” added Hames.
