Perth, Aug 28: Finding a workplace headset that delivers clear sound, lasting comfort and reliable connectivity is not always easy, but the EPOS IMPACT 1000 performs strongly across all three areas.
After testing the headset with an iMac and an iPhone, it stands out as possibly the best workplace headset I have tried so far.
Sound quality is excellent, with voices coming through clearly during calls and other audio sounding crisp and well balanced. This makes the headset particularly useful for remote workers who spend long periods in virtual meetings or regularly move between calls, music and other computer-based tasks.
Comfort is another major strength. The ear cushions remain comfortable during extended use without placing excessive pressure around the ears. That matters for professionals who may need to wear a headset for several hours each day.
The IMPACT 1000 can connect to both a computer and mobile phone, making it easy to move between devices without repeatedly pairing the headset. I successfully connected it to an iMac and phone, giving me the flexibility to manage work and personal audio through the same headset.
The initial Mac setup required some adjustment.
Audio stopped when the USB cable was removed and returned when it was reconnected. The issue was resolved by selecting the Bluetooth version of the EPOS IMPACT 1000 as the Mac’s sound output, rather than the USB connection. Once configured correctly, the headset worked as intended.
EPOS has also introduced native Bluetooth certification for Microsoft Teams across the IMPACT 1000 and IMPACT 500 series. Users must download the latest firmware through the EPOS Connect app to access the updated functionality.
Native Bluetooth allows compatible computers to connect directly to the headset without a USB dongle. This frees up a USB port, reduces desk clutter and removes the risk of losing a small adapter.
The company has strengthened its native Bluetooth security through Resolvable Private Addresses, which are designed to reduce device tracking while allowing previously paired devices to reconnect.
The headset also features Hybrid Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation, which adjusts according to surrounding conditions. This can help remote workers concentrate when working around household noise or in shared and open-office environments.
EPOS says its AI-powered voice technology scans the surrounding environment 32,000 times per second to suppress background noise and prioritise the wearer’s voice.
The company also claims the headset can deliver word accuracy of more than 99 per cent when used with AI assistants and voice-driven workplace applications.
The IMPACT 1000 is certified for Microsoft Teams Open Office, Zoom, Google Meet and Webex by Cisco, making it suitable for professionals working across different communication platforms.
Although the initial Mac configuration was not completely straightforward, the issue was minor once the correct Bluetooth output was selected. Its excellent sound, comfortable fit and ability to remain connected across two devices outweigh the early setup inconvenience.
For remote and hybrid workers who spend much of their day on calls, the EPOS IMPACT 1000 is an impressive all-round workplace headset. It is comfortable enough for long hours, sounds excellent and offers the multi-device flexibility expected from a premium professional product.
The EPOS IMPACT 1000 series is available in Australia from about A$302 including GST, depending on the model and configuration.
