Perth, March 12: Omoda Jaecoo Australia has launched the Jaecoo J5 EV, positioning the electric SUV as a practical option for Australian pet owners who want a vehicle designed to better accommodate animals on everyday trips and longer journeys.
The Jaecoo J5 EV features durable, easy-to-clean interior materials, advanced climate control, a spacious rear cabin and boot layout suited to carriers, crates and outdoor gear, as well as a range of pet-friendly accessories. Omoda Jaecoo said the vehicle was developed to support active lifestyles where pets are increasingly included in day-to-day travel.
The electric SUV offers a claimed driving range of 402km and can be charged from 30 per cent to 80 per cent in 28 minutes using a DC fast charger. Launch pricing starts from $36,990 drive-away, including metallic paint.
Dr Will Maginness, veterinarian and animal wellbeing advocate, said: “Pets today are fully integrated into Australian family life, and vehicles need to reflect that shift. When animals are travelling more frequently, whether it is a quick cafe run or a weekend away, their comfort and safety in the car become increasingly important. Features we see in vehicles like the J5 EV, such as climate control and antibacterial, easy to clean seats, all contribute to a calmer and safer experience for pets. Ultimately, when pets are comfortable and relaxed, owners are too, making journeys more enjoyable for everyone in the car.”
The launch comes as new research commissioned by Omoda Jaecoo Australia suggests pet-friendly motoring is becoming a stronger factor in purchase decisions. The survey found that 65 per cent of Australian pet owners said pet-friendly features would influence their next car purchase, with easy-to-clean interiors, air conditioning and ventilation, and spacious boot or back-seat areas ranking among the most desired features.
