Stripe Capital Launches in Australia

Sydney, Sept 11: Stripe is set to launch its business financing product, Stripe Capital, in Australia as the company marks a milestone of more than one million users across Australia and New Zealand.
The announcement was made during Stripe Tour Sydney, highlighting the company’s growing role as a critical financial infrastructure provider for businesses ranging from global enterprises to solopreneurs.
Stripe Capital will soon provide eligible small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) with quick, flexible financing directly through the Stripe platform.
By leveraging payment processing data, Stripe will offer pre-approved loans that can be deposited within one to two business days.
Repayments will adjust automatically to sales, with a simple flat fee and no compounding interest, late charges, or penalties for early repayment.
The product will also be extended through platforms using Stripe, such as me&u.
The launch comes amid rising costs and economic pressures for Australian businesses.
Stripe’s new research reveals that 92 per cent of business leaders expect a tough year ahead, with half citing the cost of operations as their biggest challenge.
Yet optimism around technology adoption remains strong, with 85 per cent confident in their ability to embrace new tools.
Artificial intelligence is already transforming business operations, with 70 per cent of Australian firms deploying AI across customer service, fraud detection, marketing, and product development.
Larger companies are also moving ahead with agentic AI, making Australia the second-highest adopter globally after the United States.
Stablecoins are another emerging frontier.
Stripe reports that over half of decision-makers are using or planning to use stablecoins, helping drive a 30 per cent rise in cross-border payments and increased international expansion by Australian businesses in 2024.
Alongside Stripe Capital, the company has introduced more than 50 updates to its payments, revenue, and embedded finance products, including the new Stripe Reader S710 with cellular connectivity, Stripe Orchestration for managing multiple processors, and Stripe Startups to support early-stage, venture-backed businesses.
With these initiatives, Stripe is positioning itself to help Australian businesses weather economic headwinds while embracing innovation and growth.
