Qatar Airways Profit Surges

Doha, May 19: Qatar Airways Group has posted the strongest financial performance in its history, with profits soaring by over 28% to QAR7.85 billion (US$2.15 billion) for the 2024/25 fiscal year. This marks a year-on-year increase of more than QAR1.7 billion (US$0.5 billion), driven by the Group’s renewed ‘Qatar Airways 2.0’ strategy.
The Group, which encompasses its passenger airline, cargo services, catering, and Qatar Duty Free, attributes its success to strategic investments, operational agility, and a focus on digitalisation and data-driven decision-making.
Qatar Airways Cargo delivered a standout performance, recording a 17% increase in revenue — the highest since the COVID-19 period. The cargo division’s ability to adapt to fluctuating market dynamics and maintain industry-leading reliability played a significant role in the Group’s overall results.
In addition to its financial achievements, Qatar Airways made strategic moves including acquiring a 25% stake in both Virgin Australia and South Africa’s Airlink, expanding its reach and influence across global aviation markets. It also introduced conversational AI in its digital cabin crew “Sama,” and became the first airline globally — and within the MENA region — to equip its Boeing 777 fleet with Starlink super-fast WiFi.
The expansion of Hamad International Airport, now capable of handling 65 million passengers annually, and the signing of several technical MoUs, further signal the Group’s commitment to long-term growth in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
Looking ahead, the airline has placed significant aircraft and engine orders to ensure its fleet remains among the most modern and advanced in the industry.
