1337 Ventures Backs Arus
1337 Ventures has invested in Arus Oil, a Malaysian startup converting waste into renewable energy, through its 1337 Accelerator Fund I. Founded in 2017 by Syazwan Majid, Arus Oil started as a community-driven recycling initiative and has now collected over 2 million kilograms of used cooking oil across the Klang Valley.
With support from 1337 Ventures, Arus Oil has secured over 20 corporate clients, expanded its B2C reach, and launched a Drop-Off Center in Subang. A recent partnership with TNG eWallet allows users to recycle used cooking oil and receive payments digitally.
The 1337 Accelerator Fund I, backed by notable investors, continues to support high-potential startups like Arus Oil. Founders interested in pitching their ideas can apply via Pitch Tuesday at 1337.ventures.
MClean Restructures DWZ Stake
MClean Technologies has announced a shareholder restructuring in its 55 per cent-owned subsidiary, DWZ Industries, following a transaction between Decor Industries and Dufu Technology Corp. Decor will sell 25 per cent of DWZ to Dufu, reducing its stake to 20 per cent, while MClean retains its 55 per cent ownership.
Dufu’s entry is expected to enhance DWZ’s growth potential through strategic collaboration. The announcement follows MClean’s strong FYE2024 financial performance, with revenue rising 28.2 per cent to RM61.3 million and a profit before tax of RM6.37 million, reversing losses from the previous year.
MClean has also expanded into plastic injection moulding with the acquisition of We Total Engineering (WTE) for RM6.04 million, aligning with its strategy to diversify revenue streams in automotive, electronics, oil and gas, and medical devices sectors.
Betamek Opens R&D Centre
Betamek Berhad has launched a new research and development centre in Rawang, Selangor, to advance automotive technology in Malaysia. The facility will focus on telematics, IoT-connected mobility applications, and advanced sensor solutions, supporting industry growth and innovation.
The expansion aligns with the National Automotive Policy 2020, positioning Malaysia as a regional hub for automotive research and development. The centre will foster collaboration with automotive manufacturers, technology partners, and academic institutions to enhance local capabilities.
The launch ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, marking a milestone in Betamek’s commitment to technological advancement in the automotive sector.
