Sydney, Aug 17: Sateliot, the pioneering force behind the first low-Earth orbit (LEO) nanosatellite constellation utilising 5G NB-IoT NTN standards, has successfully launched four new satellites.
This marks a significant step in the company’s mission to extend Mobile Telecom Operators’ coverage across 100 per cent of the planet, with these satellites deployed via the SpaceX Transporter-11 mission.
The launch, which took place on Friday was carried out aboard a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, USA.
It was a monumental moment for Sateliot, bringing together key stakeholders and the Sateliot family in Barcelona for a live event featuring messages of support from the European Space Agency (ESA), GSMA, the Spanish Government, and more.
Josep Calatayud, director of the “Control de Misión” YouTube channel, hosted the event, offering viewers insightful interviews with shareholders, authorities, and employees.
Sateliot’s co-founders, CEO Jaume Sanpera and CTO Marco Guadalupi, provided an in-depth look into the company’s future plans and technological advancements.
“This launch propels us into a new phase of development,” said Jaume Sanpera, CEO and co-founder of Sateliot. “Not only will we begin generating revenue, but we will also position Spain as a global leader in IoT connectivity.”
The mission badge for this launch, inspired by Antoni Gaudí’s iconic dragon, symbolizes Sateliot’s technological resilience and global ambitions.
The badge’s four flames represent each newly launched satellite, with multicolored fragments hinting at a future constellation of over 100 satellites by 2028.
These advancements are more than just symbolic. Sateliot’s technology is revolutionising the industry, being the first constellation to fully implement standard GSMA and 3GPP developments on satellites. This breakthrough means that connectivity black spots could soon become a thing of the past, as Sateliot’s technology is designed to ensure global connectivity regardless of location or infrastructure.
In addition to the commercial services enabled by these new satellites, Sateliot is leading the way in the NTN community with future innovations.
The company’s unique “Store and Forward” technology offers unparalleled global coverage, and a new certification program for commercial terminals is set to accelerate the integration of these services into the market.
Looking forward, Sateliot plans to deploy additional satellites by 2025 and is currently engaged in discussions to secure a Series B funding round of 30 million euros.
Since its inception in 2018, the company has raised 25 million euros and is targeting revenues of one billion Euros by 2030.
Sateliot’s technology, which will initially connect more than eight million devices from companies already contracting the service, is designed to be democratic and accessible.
It supports a wide range of applications, serving SMEs, public administrations, and large enterprises in sectors such as agriculture, livestock, logistics, and critical infrastructure.
With this latest launch, Sateliot is not just extending its reach across the globe; it is positioning itself as a key player in the future of IoT connectivity, setting the stage for a new era of global communications.
