Singapore, April 19: Prime Video has quickly renewed its breakout series, Fallout, for a second season after a spectacular debut, announced today by the streaming service.
The series, based on the beloved video game, is produced by Kilter Films along with executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, with Nolan having directed the initial three episodes.
Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner are at the helm as both creators and co-showrunners.
In just four days following its premiere, Fallout has soared to become one of Prime Video’s top three most-watched shows ever, surpassing all other series since The Rings of Power.
The show launched globally on April 10, reaching audiences in over 240 countries and territories.
“Jonah, Lisa, Geneva, and Graham have captivated the world with this ground-breaking, wild ride of a show. The bar was high for lovers of this iconic video game and so far we seem to have exceeded their expectations, while bringing in millions of new fans to the franchise.
The cast led by Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins, and Kyle MacLachlan have knocked it out of the park!,” Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios, expressed her excitement.
“We’d like to thank Jonah and Lisa and our friends at Bethesda for bringing the show to us as well as Geneva and Graham for coming aboard as showrunners. We are thrilled to announce season two after only one week out and take viewers even farther into the surreal world of Fallout.”
Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy shared their enthusiasm: “Praise be to our insanely brilliant showrunners, Geneva and Graham, to our kick-ass cast, to Todd and James and all the legends at Bethesda, and to Jen, Vernon and the amazing team at Amazon for their incredible support of this show. We can’t wait to blow up the world all over again.”
Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner also commented, “Holy shit. Thank you to Jonah, Kilter, Bethesda and Amazon for having the courage to make a show that gravely tackles all of society’s most serious problems these days — cannibalism, incest, jello cake. More to come!”
Todd Howard of Bethesda Game Studios added, “It’s been one of the most spectacular projects we’ve ever been a part of. Jonah and team did such an incredible job, and we’re overjoyed not just by the reaction to the show, but that we get to work with these amazing people even more.”
Fallout paints a stark portrait of a post-apocalyptic world where luxury fallout shelter residents must return to an irradiated earth their ancestors fled 200 years earlier, only to find a bizarre and violent new world order. The series features Lucy (Ella Purnell), an idealistic Vault-dweller who ventures to the surface to save her father; Maximus (Aaron Moten), a young soldier in the Brotherhood of Steel; and the Ghoul (Walton Goggins), a morally complex bounty hunter who navigates this treacherous world.
Alongside the leads, the series boasts a talented ensemble including Kyle MacLachlan, Moisés Arias, Sarita Choudhury, Michael Emerson, Leslie Uggams, Frances Turner, and more.
The show is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Kilter Films in association with Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks, promising another thrilling season that dives deeper into the chaotic realm of Fallout.
