Malaysia Airlines Soars Higher

Kuala Lumpur, March 22: Malaysia Airlines has announced a landmark partnership with Manchester United Football Club, becoming its Official Commercial Airline in a strategic move to expand its global footprint.
This collaboration aims to marry the world-renowned Malaysian Hospitality with the global appeal of one of football’s most storied clubs, reaching over 1.1 billion fans worldwide.
Simultaneously, the airline revealed plans to enhance its route map with the introduction of flights to three sought-after destinations: Malé, Maldives; Da Nang, Vietnam; and Chiang Mai, Thailand. These additions underscore Malaysia Airlines’ ambition to strengthen its presence in key markets across South Asia and ASEAN, reinforcing its role as a gateway to Asia and beyond.

New Horizons: Maldives, Da Nang, and Chiang Mai

Starting in August 2024, Malaysia Airlines will embark on its expansion, launching daily services to Malé on 1 August, and to Da Nang and Chiang Mai in September. This expansion will mark the airline’s growth into its 13th destination in South Asia and 16th in the ASEAN region. The new routes will feature direct flights from Kuala Lumpur, enhancing connectivity and offering passengers more travel options within the airline’s extensive network as a member of the oneworld® alliance.

Innovative Cabin Experience with Airbus A330neo

In a push towards modernizing its fleet, Malaysia Airlines unveiled the new Business and Economy Class seats for its Airbus A330neo aircraft, set to be delivered in Q3 2024. The introduction of Collins Aerospace Elevation Business Class seats will offer passengers an unparalleled travel experience with all-suite cabins, individual privacy doors, and wireless charging pods. This makes Malaysia Airlines the first carrier worldwide to equip its A330 fleet with Elevation seats, a testament to its commitment to passenger comfort and innovation.
The Economy Class will feature the award-winning Recaro CL3810 seats, designed with ergonomics and enhanced support in mind. The cabin’s design will pay tribute to Malaysia’s cultural heritage, incorporating the signature songket motif across seat covers, blending tradition with contemporary luxury.

Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, Group Managing Director of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), reflected on the airline’s journey and its commitment to elevating customer experience. “As we partner with Manchester United and introduce new routes and cabin innovations, we’re setting a new benchmark in travel. The airline’s three new routes will offer passengers greater flexibility and choices for their travel plans, with the following flight schedules:

  • Malé, Maldives: Daily flights starting 1 August 2024
  • Chiang Mai, Thailand: Five weekly flights starting 15 August 2024
  • Da Nang, Vietnam: Flights commencing 24 September 2024
