Korea, Jan 16: In a recent aviation incident, a Korean Air aircraft experienced a minor collision with a Cathay aircraft during pushback operations at New Chitose International Airport in Sapporo, Japan.
The incident, which occurred today, at 17:35 Japan Local Time, involved a Korean Air A330-300 aircraft, operating as flight KE766, scheduled to depart from New Chitose Airport to Seoul Incheon.
According to reports, the collision was caused by a third-party ground handler vehicle slipping on the heavy snow, a common challenge in the wintry conditions of Sapporo.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the 276 passengers and 13 crew members aboard the Korean Air flight.
In response to the incident, Korean Air has been proactive in managing the situation.
The airline is fully cooperating with all relevant authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly.

Meanwhile, to minimize the inconvenience to passengers, Korean Air has arranged for a rescheduled flight.
This flight is set to depart from Incheon at 20:30 on January 16 and will arrive in Sapporo at 23:30.
The return flight to Incheon is scheduled to arrive at 04:15 am on January 17.
This incident highlights the challenges faced by airlines and airport ground handlers in dealing with adverse weather conditions.
While the collision was minor, Korean Air’s quick response in arranging alternative transportation for its passengers demonstrates the airline’s commitment to passenger safety and convenience.
The ongoing investigation will seek to uncover the specific causes of the incident and implement measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
