Kuala Lumpur, Jan 16: 1337 Ventures, known for its award-winning Alpha Startups™ pre-accelerator program, has announced the launch of a new cohort dedicated to supporting women entrepreneurs in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
In collaboration with Freda Liu, a prominent Malaysian author, broadcast journalist, and mentor for women’s startups, this initiative aims to empower women in the business world.
Bikesh Lakhmichand, CEO and Founding Partner of 1337 Ventures, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, underscoring the significance of fostering women’s entrepreneurship in the region.
“This collaboration with Freda Liu for our Alpha Startups™ for Women aligns with our vision to support and celebrate the unique challenges and potential of women entrepreneurs,” Bikesh stated.
Freda Liu, a staunch advocate for women’s empowerment in business, emphasizes the need for tangible support platforms for women founders.
“It’s crucial to provide more than just moral support; we need to offer a solid platform for women to take actionable steps in entrepreneurship,” Freda mentioned.
The Alpha Startups™ for Women is a four-week virtual pre-accelerator program, open to idea-stage startups and first-time women founders.

It focuses on essential startup strategies, including idea validation, developing a minimal viable product (MVP), fundraising, and pitching to investors.
The program culminates in a demo day, where finalists present to a panel of judges and investors. The winner receives up to RM50K in equity funding, with all participants gaining digital perks worth RM20K credits.
Applications for the program are open until Feb 19 at https://1337.ventures/alpha-startups-pre-accelerator.
Additionally, 1337 Ventures will host a panel discussion titled “Navigating the Entrepreneurial Journey: Wisdom from Female Founders,” featuring successful female entrepreneurs and moderated by Freda Liu. Interested parties can RSVP at https://bit.ly/womenspaneldiscussion.
This initiative builds on 1337 Ventures’ history of supporting women in business, with past alumni like Atirah Danial and Amirah Jasmine of Manis Leting, and founders of Eat Cake Today, demonstrating the program’s effectiveness.
The Alpha Startups™ for Women promises to be a groundbreaking step towards fostering female entrepreneurial talent in Southeast Asia.
