Melbourne, Oct 9: At Pax Australia 2023, I had the unique opportunity to dive into a soon-to-be-released PC game called Into the Dead®: Our Darkest Days, courtesy of the PikPok Aus booth.
Despite not being a seasoned gamer, I spent 30 minutes immersing myself in the game, and here’s my candid review.
The game boasts excellent design and impressive artwork.
The demo showcased compelling visuals that immediately captured my attention.
It’s safe to say that I was impressed with the game’s aesthetics.
Initially, I struggled to navigate the game, but with some valuable tips from PikPok’s Senior Product Manager, Juliann Lum, I managed to extend my survival time.
The gameplay experience was engaging, and I found it quite enjoyable.
One of the game’s highlights was the cathartic experience of punching and taking down zombies, particularly after a long day at work.
It provided a unique sense of release and satisfaction.
The game is set in 1980s Texas, where Walton City is grappling with a zombie outbreak.
Escape is the only hope for survival.
Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days offers a side-scrolling shelter survival experience, where players must guide a group of survivors from one refuge to another, striving to get everyone out of the city safely.
In this game, you’ll scavenge for supplies, craft tools, and weapons, battle the undead, and constantly keep moving to stay ahead of the zombie menace.
Survival is a delicate balance, as players must manage the physical and psychological needs of the characters, with death being permanent in this unforgiving world.
The game also promises a dynamic urban landscape that changes over time, featuring personal stories of tested morality and humanity.
Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days challenges both newcomers and series veterans to ponder how far they’ll go to survive.
Mario Wynands, CEO of PikPok, expressed his excitement about the game’s development and how it adds depth to the Into the Dead experience.
He emphasized the company’s dedication to innovation and delivering an exceptional player experience.
Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days is set to enter Early Access on Steam in 2024.
