Mines, July 27: Amateur golfer Marcus Lim caused a sensation at the Supra Cup when he defeated Ervin Chang in a play-off at the Mines Resort Golf Club today. This victory marks the first time an amateur has claimed the main prize on the Toyota Tour, presented by UMW Toyota Motor, delivered by MST Golf Group Bhd, and managed by the Professional Golf Malaysia.
After three rounds, both Marcus and Ervin tied for first place with seven-under 206s, one stroke ahead of overnight leader Ben Leong. Galven Green and Danny Chia shared the fourth position, one stroke further behind.

In the play-off on the 18th hole, Marcus showcased an amazing shot from 190 yards that found the putting surface, leaving him with a 12-foot putt for victory. On the other hand, Ervin faced bunker trouble and eventually missed his chip, leading to a double bogey. Marcus sealed the win with just three putts.
The 21-year-old Marcus, pursuing a degree in health care administration, expressed his shock at the victory and hopes to turn professional after completing his studies next year. Aretha Pan secured the Ladies championship, while the next leg of the Toyota Tour, the Corolla Cross Cup, will take place at the Palm Garden Golf Club from August 8-10.
