Despite having an active Netflix subscription, I rarely find myself using it as a source of relaxation. Surprisingly, the vast selection of movies and TV series becomes a hindrance rather than a source of enjoyment. Additionally, the allure of TikTok further distracts me from fully engaging with Netflix. After a few minutes of watching shows, I often find myself reaching for my phone to delve into the world of TikTok, whether it’s catching up on the latest gossip or getting lost in addictive tarot card readings that appear on my For You Page (FYP). However, recently I discovered three TV series that managed to captivate my attention, prompting me to share my thoughts and recommendations. It has been quite some time since I last published an article highlighting what’s worth watching on Netflix, so I couldn’t resist sharing these exciting finds. Without further ado, let’s dive into the first series that consistently held my attention, uninterrupted about 90 percent of the time.

Vortex” – A French Sci-Fi Thriller Mini-Series

“Vortex” is a mesmerizing new French mini-series that has recently made its way onto Netflix. With six hour-long episodes, this crime, thriller, sci-fi, and mystery series will keep you on the edge of your seat. The show’s premise, reminiscent of films like “Frequency” and “The Butterfly Effect,” explores the interplay between time, crime, and the unexplained. With fantastic reviews from both critics and viewers, “Vortex” is an incredibly binge-worthy series that you won’t want to miss.

“Black Mirror” – A Thought-Provoking British Anthology Series

“Black Mirror,” created by Charlie Brooker, is a critically acclaimed British anthology television series. Each episode presents a standalone story set in a near-future dystopia with sci-fi technology, reminiscent of “The Twilight Zone.” The series utilizes these speculative narratives to comment on contemporary social issues, often leaving viewers with a lingering sense of reflection. With 22 episodes across five series, one special, and an interactive film, “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch,” this thought-provoking show is a must-watch. Its sixth series, set to be released on June 15, 2023, promises to deliver more mind-bending stories.

“Scoop” – A Riveting Hindi Crime Drama

“Scoop” is a gripping Hindi crime drama that delves into the complex web of police, media, and the Mumbai underworld. The series follows a crime reporter as she investigates the shocking murder of a journalist, fighting for justice while navigating the treacherous realms of power. Premiering on June 2, 2023, this Netflix original series is based on the book “Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison” by Jigna Vora. With its intriguing storyline, powerful performances, and an immersive depiction of Mumbai’s underbelly, “Scoop” is an engrossing watch that will keep you hooked from start to finish.
If you’re searching for compelling TV series to indulge in, these three shows offer a diverse range of narratives and genres. Whether you’re drawn to the enigmatic allure of “Vortex,” the thought-provoking tales of “Black Mirror,” or the gripping crime drama of “Scoop,” each series promises a captivating viewing experience.
