Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) has introduced a special promotion, coinciding with its sponsorship of CommBank SmallBiz Week, offering a $0 upfront cost for its Smart Mini reader to small businesses.
The portable payments device provides a competitive flat rate fee of 1.1 per cent on all major cards. The promotion runs until September 29 and complements the existing option of a $0 monthly account fee for CommBank Business Transaction Accounts (BTA).
Additionally, customers who settle $2,000 worth of transactions with the Smart Mini reader by July 31 and link it to their CommBank BTA are eligible for a $100 cash payment.
Grant Cairns, CBA’s Executive General Manager of Business Lending and Small Business Banking, expressed the bank’s commitment to supporting small businesses, acknowledging the challenging environment they face.
Cairns stated that by removing certain banking service costs and providing the Smart Mini reader promotion along with the $0 monthly account fee option, CBA aims to provide tangible support to the small business sector.
Karen Last, CBA’s General Manager of Merchant Solutions, highlighted the importance of portable payment solutions for many small businesses and the attractive benefits offered by the Smart Mini reader.
The device features a highly competitive flat rate transaction fee, anti-fraud technology, real-time transaction insights, and same-day settlement when linked to a CommBank BTA.
Last also mentioned the competitiveness of the portable payments space and the positive reception of the Smart Mini reader since its launch in March.
