The current political drama that is causing a lot of heat among the people is regarding the upcoming UMNO election, which will be the next ‘hottest’ contested seat among the party members. In all honesty, I do believe that this seat that is being contested certainly holds an important position and perhaps even contributes to the betterment of Malaysia in a few more years, yet everyone seems to have not learned anything from the previous GE15.
It must be criticized that most members of the party start to look quite desperate to be the top member of the party. The party is divided among themselves. This wouldn’t be an issue if it weren’t for the neglect that is thrown upon the members of their party.
Ministers from the current government are also part of this party, and statements from them are yet to be out.
Perhaps one might wonder about the connection between whether the leader of the party and the ministers in the current government could affect the country in any way and to that I say, absolutely.
Essentially, it might cause instability in the government as a whole due to the changes that happen in the party.
There is a lack of cooperation or democracy among the members of the party.
Considering how BN holds the second largest seat in the ‘Unity Government’, the outcome of this election will play a huge role in how the government will continue in the years to come until the next election. Different views and beliefs will certainly be an issue in how choose to serve the people.
As we have witnessed, the power of one president could determine which party gets to be on top, thus, they should act more maturely and professionally, so that it could be a beacon of how beautiful and alive democracy is in our country.  The neglect of the people should be frowned upon, and they seem to have forgotten their voters. Being in power is one thing but being able to protect the people who voted for the party specifically is important too.
Due to the heated debate and usual political agenda that surrounds this election, the people’s fundamental needs and issues are somehow ignored. We need more action on the RFID issues, the Covid-19 measures update, the topic on the presumed economic recession and how it is being handled at the moment, the issue of the increasing taxing among the people, new data on poverty, starvation, migration, and homelessness in our country and increased minimum wage among workers. These topics are yet to be touched upon.
Every day, most politicians are just focused on their own personal political agenda, neglecting and covering their eyes from these issues that were mentioned. Calling names, gossip and propagandas must be mitigated in the political arena.
A healthier and more professional stage must be embedded into the mind of these politicians. It is not too late that we learn and do what is right.
