Staff at 620 stores 100 pc vaccinated

Kuala Lumpur, Sept 6: Homegrown retailer MR D.I.Y. Group [M] Bhd is stepping up its efforts to support the National Immunisation Programme by ensuring its staff is vaccinated.
As such, the company reported that as of today, 100 per cent of staff at 620 stores nationwide have been vaccinated.
“We launched the MR D.I.Y. vaccination effort in June with three aims in mind, that is to create a safe working environment for our 12,000 staff, a safe shopping environment for the customers we serve across the country, and to support the Government’s National Immunisation Programme,” MR D.I.Y. Group Vice President of Marketing, Andy Chin said in a statement.
“We have used some of our marketing assets, including billboards in high-traffic locations, our in-store environments, and our social media channels, to support the Lindung Diri, Lindung Semua campaign.
“We are a Malaysian brand, and it’s important that we do our part in the fight against COVID-19.”

Social Housing Cannot Be Overlooked During Women’s Safety Summit

Sydney, Sept 6: More than 230 organisations working at the coalface of domestic violence and homelessness have signed a joint statement calling for a commitment to safe and affordable social housing from today’s National Women’s Safety Summit.
Housing only has a fleeting reference in the agenda, despite the fact 7,690 women return to perpetrators of violence each year because they have nowhere to live.
And an alarming 9,120 women a year become homeless after leaving their homes due to domestic and family violence and being unable to secure long term housing.
Signatories to the statement include large advocacy and peak organisations such as ACOSS, Shelter and the ACTU, through to women’s refuges, homelessness services and community legal centres.
In addition to the joint statement, Everybody’s Home, the national campaign against homelessness, is convening a special online event focusing on the importance of housing and women’s safety with the event taking place at 8:15am and can be accessed through this hyperlink.

Latest update on the AFC Asian Qualifiers – Road to Qatar

Kuala Lumpur, Sept 6: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) confirms that the AFC Asian Qualifiers – Road to Qatar Group B match between China PR and Vietnam on October 7 will be held in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.
Similar to the current September window, the decision of a neutral venue was confirmed in light of the ongoing COVID-19 challenges faced by the Chinese Football Association (CFA) in organising its home matches.
Meanwhile, Syria’s home tie against Lebanon in Group A on October 12 will be held at the neutral venue of the King Abdullah II Stadium in Amman, Jordan. 
The venues for the remaining AFC Asian Qualifiers – Road to Qatar matches not yet announced will be communicated in due course.

New Study Reveals Malaysia E-Wallet Brands

Kuala Lumpur, Sept 6: TEAM LEWIS, the global marketing agency, launched the E-Wallets Marketing Engagement Index report, analysing 15 of the leading e-wallet companies in Malaysia.
As a collective, the 15 companies excelled in the areas of site security, social presence, mobile, chat and app metrics.
However, a vast majority of the e-wallet brands on the index have not fully leveraged digital marketing, media, and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility).
The study points to gaps in marketing engagement amongst e-wallet companies and the need for brands to focus less on the technical, vanity aspects of marketing engagement, and more on building stronger connections with audiences.

Kuala Lumpur,  Sept 6: Aurelius Healthcare Sdn.Bhd which aspires to be the leading healthcare management platform in the Southeast Asia region has announced the acquisition of its first hospital – the 100-bed multidisciplinary Nilai Medical Centre for an undisclosed amount.

NTT Strengthens Partnership With Red Bull

Cryoviva Singapore Expands to Bahrain

Singapore, Sept 7: Local family cord blood bank Cryoviva Singapore  is continuing with its rapid geographic growth plans with an entry into the Bahrain market.

Kuala Lumpur, Sept 7: Atopic dermatitis, a chronic inflammatory skin condition, is greatly misunderstood in Malaysia, reveals the More Than Skin Deep: Atopic Dermatitis in Malaysia Report. Citing low awareness and persistent misconceptions that contribute to delayed diagnosis and poor management of the condition, the #UncoverLife – Atopic Dermatitis, More Than Skin Deep campaign aims to rally patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals to break free from the condition and #UncoverLife.
The campaign is organised in conjunction with World Atopic Dermatitis Day celebrated on September 14 by the Dermatological Society of Malaysia (Persatuan Dermatologi Malaysia, PDM) in collaboration with award-winning Malaysian comic artist Erica Eng and the Malaysia Eczema Society (Persatuan Ekzema Malaysia).
“To help dispel falsehoods about atopic dermatitis and shed some light on what patients go through, we have partnered Malaysian artist Erica Eng to develop a webcomic series so that others can see atopic dermatitis from a patient’s perspective,” Datuk Dr Noor Zalmy Azizan, Consultant Dermatologist and President of the Dermatological Society of Malaysia said in a statement.

The webcomic series reveals the trials, tribulations and triumphs of Shomendra, Elaine, and Iris in their personal journey towards overcoming the physical, emotional and social challenges of managing atopic dermatitis.

Nestlé EVERYDAY Aid to B40 Families

Kuala Lumpur, Sept 8: In an effort to provide immediate nutritional support to the urban poor and vulnerable communities, Nestlé EVERYDAY recently teamed up with a local non-governmental organisation (NGO), Persatuan Empayar Kebajikan Malaysia (Empire Project) to distribute more than 20,000 “Bekalan Nutrisi” packs to B40 families.
This community initiative is part of Nestlé EVERYDAY‘s “Bekalan Nutrisi” campaign with the aim of educating Malaysians on the importance of good nutrition for health, while facing various challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It is our hope that we will be able to raise awareness and cultivate beneficial change towards improving nutritional intake especially amongst the vulnerable communitie,” Nestle Malaysia Berhad, Milks Division Business Executive Lam Pui Yuee said in a statement. 
Each pack contains NESTLÉ EVERYDAY Milk Powder 300 gram and NESTUM All Family Cereal 250 gram, providing essential vitamins and minerals to support children’s growth and family’s well-being.

NEC Expands Its Collaboration with AWS

Tokyo, Sept 8: NEC Corporation has expanded its collaboration with Amazon Web Services, Inc. in areas that include global 5G and the digital government in support of accelerating digital transformation for customers.
Last November, NEC and AWS concluded a corporate-level strategic collaboration agreement, and have been developing offerings and strengthening delivery capabilities since then. 
“NEC is now expanding the collaboration with AWS in the areas of global 5G, digital government and in enhanced hybrid cloud offerings. With the strong global support from AWS, NEC will help drive digital transformation in the government sector and across industries as part of orchestrating a brighter world,” NEC Corp Executive VP Toshifumi Yoshizaki said in a statement.
To accelerate these initiatives, the NEC Group has increased the number of AWS-certified engineers to 2,000 at present, aiming for 3,000, double the number from the start of collaboration in 2020, and firmly maintains one of Japan’s largest delivery capabilities for cloud projects. 
Going forward, NEC will continue to strengthen these positions and to ensure that it responds to customers’ digital transformation demands.

ECRL Project Personnel 100 PC Vaccinated

Kuala Lumpur, Sept 8: China Communications Construction (ECRL) Sdn Bhd (CCC-ECRL), the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) Contractor of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project, announced today that it has successfully vaccinated 100 per cent of its management and staff including local subcontractors and suppliers working on the ECRL project.
The entire ECRL workforce has at least received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. CCC-ECRL aims to complete the two-dose vaccination process by the end of the month.
“It is crucial for CCC-ECRL to vaccinate not only its own staff but also those of their subcontractors as well as suppliers, to ensure a safe working environment for all,” Qualitas Health Group person-in-charge Dr Mohd Fauzi Hassan said in a statement.
This is to ensure the personnel actively working at its 164 priority locations, including the excavation works of 10 tunnels, are fully immunized and to ensure the steadfast progress of the national megaproject.
Furthermore, the initiative is essential to prevent delays in the project’s progress caused by stringent onsite SOPs, including less manpower and shorter working hours, and material delivery delays consequential to the Movement Control Order (MCO) imposed in various states.

First Domain Name System Forum Held Next Year 

Cyberjaya, Sept 8: The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced plans for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region’s first Domain Name System (DNS) Forum.
Jointly organized by ICANN and MYNIC Berhad, which is the Registry & Registrar for .MY, the inaugural APAC DNS Forum 2022 is scheduled to take place from March 30 to April 1 next year.
To prepare participants for the APAC DNS Forum in 2022, ICANN and MYNIC will kick off a monthly webinar series beginning in Sept and will conclude the series next February. 
The six webinars will cover a range of topics which will highlight how the DNS may interest and impact different stakeholders in the Internet ecosystem ranging from DNS industry participants, domain name owners, network operators, policy makers and even end users.
The first webinar is scheduled on Sept 23 with the topic “Understanding the Domain Name System.”

Hong Kong, Sept 8: The special edition of the 40th HKTDC Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair and ninth Salon de TE, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Ltd and The Federation of Hong Kong Watch Trades and Industries Ltd, officially open today, bringing together more than 160 exhibitors. The physical fairs run from Sept 8 till12 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), while the online version runs until September 19, providing continued sourcing opportunities through both physical and online formats.
The five-day fairs are open to the general public for the first time, offering visitors the opportunity to appreciate precious timepieces and shop for watches at discounted prices. Spritzer Malaysia Sends Aid To Families

Kuala Lumpur, Sept 9Spritzer Malaysia, which produces Malaysia’s best-selling natural mineral water, is again bringing aid by sending bottle water to victims of the flash floods in the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia who are in need of safe and clean drinking water sources following the recent heavy downpour.
The Company has sent more than 30,000 bottles of Spritzer Natural Mineral Water to flood victims in Gurun and Yan in Kedah and Alor Pongsu in Perak whose homes were affected by the floodwaters, with a number of residents in all these areas having been evacuated to relief centres.
Spritzer has been donating aid to flood victims and rescue crews, especially those in flash floods affected areas, where victims may not have access to drinking water which is important for hydration and ensuring hygiene at all times.
Spritzer draws its silicon-rich mineral water sources from an environmentally safe and sustainable facility in Taiping, Perak surrounded by a tropical rainforest that is more than 200-million-year-old.
Silicon-rich mineral water has also been found to be beneficial to health, which helps reduce or eliminate aluminium toxins found in bodies.

ACCA To Advance UN Sustainable Development Goals

Kuala Lumpur, Sept 9: ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei (UNGCMYB) formed a strategic partnership to build awareness among finance and accounting professionals on corporate sustainability, an essential aspect of building resilient and sustainable businesses for now and for future generations.
The opportunities that come from UNGCMYB-ACCA partnership will include efforts to raise awareness and improve skills in areas such as sustainable finance and its impact for relevant stakeholders, in order to align organisations’ financial strategies with the Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).
“With this partnership, we are able to play a greater role to bridge much-needed sustainability and financial actions, through collaborative programs and localized content, to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within this decade,” UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei, Executive Director Faroze Nadar said in a statement.
The collaboration also aims to create a pipeline of sustainability advocates amongst finance and accounting professionals, with the aim of being part of the UNGC CFO Taskforce.
In time, ACCA and UNGCMYB will also collaborate on high-level support policy and research and organise events to drive visibility on corporate sustainability which may include roundtable discussions, reports, forums and conferences, as well as workshops.

Coway Provides Aid To The Vulnerable

Kuala Lumpur, Sept 9: Coway Malaysia has donated a total of RM400,000 to MERCY Malaysia’s Food Aid Programme, which seeks to deliver basic food supplies to vulnerable communities that have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the constant lockdowns. 
This corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative is part of the company’s commitment to stand alongside Malaysians in the fight against the challenges brought on by the pandemic. 
“We have a duty to help those in need as we believe any action, no matter how small, can start the ripple effect towards creating a better world,” Kyle Choi Ki Ryong, Managing Director of Coway Malaysia said in a statement.
The contribution will fund 3,600 food packs, benefiting vulnerable groups across the country, including urban and rural B40 families; families of B40 frontliners; the disabled; refugee populations; as well as shelter homes. 
Each food pack comprises essential food items including rice, cooking oil, sardines, malt drinks, and flour.

Kuala Lumpur, Sept 9: In conjunction with the annual Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) taking place from today till Sept 12, MYNIC Berhad, Malaysia’s official .MY domain registry under the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia (KKMM), will participate in a Knowledge Sharing Programme to shed light on the development of Digital Transformation on Halal Industry.

Shah Alam, Sept 9: LEON FUAT BERHAD, a manufacturer and trader of steel products, specialising in rolled long and flat products announced a 1,110.1 per cent growth in profit after tax to RM32.12 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2021 compared with the RM2.65 million recorded for the corresponding quarter the previous year. 
The group also recorded 73.1 per cent growth in revenue to RM184.78 million for the quarter under review compared with RM106.76 million in the previous quarter.
“For Malaysia, we are seeing a gradual relaxation of containment measures alongside the rapid progress of the domestic vaccination programme would lead to a rebound of the economy,” Leon Fuat Executive Director Calvin Ooi Shang How said in a statement. 
“We are committed to continue with the positive momentum, building on our strong fundamentals and the continued support from our investors.”
The surge in steel prices globally since last year is supported by economic recovery and the gradual reopening of economies around the world while the expected rebound will unleash pent-up industrial demand which will hopefully maintain upward momentum for the steel sector.

Top Glove’s US Exports Resumes

Shah Alam, Sept 10: Top Glove is pleased to announce that Top Glove Malaysia is clear and allowed to resume exporting and selling gloves to the U.S.A, following modification of the Finding by U. S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) effective today.
In its statement at https://public-inspection.federalregister.gov/2021-19535.pdf, CBP affirmed that disposable gloves made by Top Glove in Malaysia would be admissible at all U.S. ports of entry.
Top Glove wishes to express its utmost appreciation to CBP for its responsiveness in modification of the finding.

For the first time, the show is open to public visitors for the entire duration.

A number of Hong Kong designers presented their 2022 Spring/Summer collections today, attracting the attention of fashion buyers and fashionistas. 
For the first time, the show is open to public visitors for the entire duration.

Selangor, Sept 11: Selangkah Ventures Sdn Bhd (SVSB) recently collaborated with the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and WhatsDoc Sdn Bhd to integrate a holistic approach in providing mental health and psychosocial support within the Selangkah ecosystem.
As a result of this partnership, the Selangkah mobile application now features its latest function Selangor Mental Sihat (SEHAT), aimed at tackling various mental health issues currently plaguing Selangor residents.
Incorporating IIUM and WhatsDoc’s respective services in mental health management, SEHAT will not only increase awareness and literacy on such issues among its users. 
The program will also provide early intervention through self-screening modules, as well as psychosocial assistance from professional counsellors and support forums.
The Selangkah App is available for download from Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and Huawei App Gallery.
