Grab Malaysia to Help Seniors

Grab Malaysia will help senior citizens travel to and from authorised vaccination centres nationwide.

Citizens who are aged 60 and above and are Grab users will receive Grab rides promos of up to RM8 off 4 rides to book their rides easily on the Grab app to any of the vaccination centres starting from June 12.

“At Grab, we have always believed in addressing Malaysians’ most critical needs through our services, especially during difficult times,” Grab Malaysia managing director Sean Goh said in a statement.

“The quicker we can achieve herd immunity, the sooner our communities will be able to recover while also helping our economy to rebuild itself.

“Hence, we hope that through lending our technology, network and reach, we can contribute to the government’s national vaccination efforts.”

The programme came after lack of transportation was quoted as one of the top reasons why senior citizens are missing their vaccination appointments and is the latest in a series of Grab’s initiatives to support the government’s National COVID-19 Immunisation Program.

This is also designed to cover both doses of their vaccinations.

Grab will be working closely with the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI) and COVID-19 Immunisation Special Task Force (CITF) to ensure that all points of interest at vaccination centres are available on the Grab app.

“For senior citizens who do not have their own vehicle or transportation means, Grab has provided clear drop-off locations at all vaccination centres nationwide,” said Goh.

“The promo will be sent directly to eligible and registered users’ inbox and users can easily book a ride via the Grab app.

“When they search for their assigned centres, these vaccination centres locations will be displayed.”
