Woolworths Freezes 300 Staple Prices

Perth, April 30: Woolworths will freeze the shelf prices of 300 popular own-brand and exclusive products from tomorrow, May 1, 2026, for the next three months, as Australian families face mounting pressure from higher interest rates, elevated fuel prices and the ongoing Middle East conflict.
The supermarket giant said it will absorb any rising costs agreed with suppliers on these products so that customers will not see shelf prices increase, with the Price Freeze running alongside existing value programs including Lower Shelf Price, Everyday Low Prices, weekly specials, and Everyday Rewards.
Products on Price Freeze include family staples such as Woolworths Hot Roast Chicken, the Woolworths Soft Bread Range, Cage Free Eggs XL 12 pack, RSPCA Chicken Breast Fillets, Pork and Beef Sausages, Pasta 500g range, Frozen Mixed Berries, Little One’s Nappy Range, Vevelle Luxury Soft Toilet Tissue, and Woolworths Essentials Facial Tissues. Products on Price Freeze remain eligible for promotional discounts.

The freeze comes as cost pressures faced by Australian suppliers due to the Middle East conflict begin impacting prices across supermarkets.
“The conflict in the Middle East has brought a new wave of uncertainty, and we’re hearing from our customers that they’re worried about what it means for their household budget. While we don’t know how long these challenges will last, or what the full impact of higher costs will be on our customers’ favourite products, we know a little certainty can go a long way,” said Woolworths Group CEO Amanda Bardwell.
“That’s why, for the next three months, we’re freezing the shelf price on 300 staples that families rely on most, like eggs, chicken breast fillets, pasta, beef sausages and nappies. It’s our promise that the shelf price you see on these items today is the most you’ll pay for the next three months. We’ll invest to absorb any extra costs that are agreed with suppliers on these products to make that happen.”
Bardwell added that Woolworths is committed to working with its suppliers, transport partners and Australian farmers, who are facing rising fuel, fertiliser and packaging costs.
The full list of products included in the Price Freeze will be available on the Woolworths website from May 1.
