City Safari Arrives

Sydney, Dec 8: Sydney will host Australia’s first-ever Pokémon GO City Safari on December 13 and 14, 2025, turning the city into a giant, interactive playground for Trainers of all ages. The two-day event invites players to explore iconic locations, discover hidden corners of the harbour city, and encounter special Pokémon along the way.
According to the organisers, Pokémon GO City Safari will give locals and visitors “a whole new way” to experience Sydney.
“Set off on a citywide adventure as you discover Sydney’s harbour, landmarks, and hidden gems, while meeting new friends and encountering Pokémon along the way,” the announcement said.
The event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. AEDT on both days. Tickets cost AUD$19, with an optional Extra Day Add-On for AUD$14 for those who want to play across the entire weekend. Tickets are available via the City Safari website and are nonrefundable, subject to local laws and the Terms of Service.
A major highlight is the Pokémon GO Stamp Rally, which spans several of Sydney’s most recognisable destinations: Darling Harbour, Sydney City Centre, Royal Botanic Gardens, Circular Quay, Milsons Point, Manly Beach, and Centennial Park. Players can collect up to eight stamps per day from participating PokéStops, each rewarding “an encounter with Eevee wearing an explorer hat.” The stamp rally can be completed once per day during event hours.

Trainers can also look forward to special encounters across the city, including Mudbray, “exclusive to City Safari 2025 events.” Lucky players may even stumble upon Shiny versions of the featured Pokémon.
The City Safari booth will be located in Darling Harbour under the Pier Street Underpass near Darling Square, where visitors can pick up a Pikachu sun visor and other goodies.
Ticket holders will gain access to several event bonuses on their chosen day, including 4-hour Lure Modules (except Golden Lures), up to five Special Trades, a 50 per cent Stardust discount on trades, and the chance for Buddy Pokémon to find the “City Safari–exclusive Tiny Compass souvenir.”
Players can also enhance their experience with optional AUD$9 add-ons. Raid Lover offers up to 12 daily Raid Passes, bonus XP, and extra Candy. Egg-thusiast provides half hatch distance, double Stardust, double XP, and double Hatch Candy. The Extra Day Add-On (AUD$14) grants access to both days with boosted bonuses and “an increased chance of Shiny Pokémon.”
Tickets can be purchased directly through the Pokémon GO app by navigating to the Events tab. Players may also gift tickets to friends, provided they are at least Great Friends in-game. All tickets purchased in one order must be for the same date.
Sydney’s City Safari is expected to draw thousands of players, marking another milestone for the city’s growing reputation as a host for large-scale gaming events.
