ARM Hub Backs AI Plan

Sydney, Dec 8: ARM Hub has welcomed the Federal Government’s National AI Plan announced last week, saying it will provide practical support for AI deployment across Australia’s industrial sector while strengthening sovereign capability and safety guidance.
The plan allocates $29.9 million to the new AI Safety Institute and more than $460 million across existing AI initiatives, with Australia’s AI adoption efforts to be coordinated through the AI Adopt Centre network.
ARM Hub says the plan’s three central goals – capturing AI opportunities through practical deployment, spreading benefits across industry, and keeping businesses safe as they adopt new technologies – closely align with its work with manufacturers and other industrial firms.
“The plan strengthens how Australia supports industrial AI adoption,” said Professor Cori Stewart, ARM Hub CEO and Founder.

“By coordinating the AI Adopt Centre network under NAIC and maintaining the $17 million AI Adopt Program, it ensures SMEs get practical support to deploy AI without the barriers larger companies can overcome. ARM Hub delivers that support across sectors including advanced manufacturing, medical technology, defence, clean energy, metal fabrication, and even enabling technologies like robotics and embedded AI.”
Under the plan, the National AI Centre’s expanded role in coordinating all four AI Adopt Centres is expected to sharpen the focus on industrial applications while improving national consistency. Bringing the $17 million AI Adopt Program under NAIC oversight is aimed at enhancing support for small and medium-sized enterprises looking to implement AI.
The plan also highlights practical skills development, placing emphasis on TAFE and workforce programs as well as research institutions, and acknowledges that floor managers and production staff need confidence with AI tools to thrive in an AI-enabled economy.
On sovereign capability, the strategy includes investment in local infrastructure and the GovAI framework to address security concerns for industrial companies working with robotics and AI, providing greater clarity for businesses investing in advanced technologies.
The establishment of the AI Safety Institute will see a dedicated body monitor, test and share information on emerging AI capabilities, risks and harms, and support regulators as AI becomes more deeply embedded in production systems and supply chains.
ARM Hub’s AI Adopt Centre will continue to support industrial businesses nationally through hands-on guidance, data infrastructure support and links into the broader AI ecosystem, helping companies access national programs and scale their AI-driven innovations.
