Australia Post Megahub

Adelaide, Oct 22: Australia Post will invest nearly $500 million in a new parcel super hub in Elizabeth, transforming the former Holden site into an 83,000-square-metre facility slated to open in 2028. The site will be the network’s largest and the first to fully integrate Australia Post and StarTrack operations.
Designed to serve South Australia for the next two decades, the hub will process up to 400,000 parcels a day—around double the current capacity of the Adelaide Airport Parcel Facility—supporting faster statewide deliveries and providing a testbed for future network planning and technology upgrades.
Australia Post Group CEO and Managing Director Paul Graham said the Adelaide Parcel Facility will streamline parcel processing and customer experience for South Australians, ensuring maximum efficiency delivered in a sustainable way, for decades to come.
“South Australia continues to experience year-on-year eCommerce growth, with 80 per cent of residents shopping online in the past year. This new parcel facility will help us meet that growing demand over the next two decades and deliver to customers’ doors faster than ever before.”
“As online shopping habits evolve, it’s critical that Australia Post invests in infrastructure that gives us a competitive advantage. This parcel facility will be the largest in the country and the blueprint for our most technically advanced facilities going forward. It forms part of our long-term strategy to modernise our network, improve efficiency and maintain our role as Australia’s trusted delivery partner, for consumers and businesses alike,” Mr Graham said.
Developer Pelligra Group will deliver the project. Chairman Ross Pelligra said, “This project will provide a broad range of benefits to South Australia, and we’re excited to be a part of that. We’re proud that Australia Post selected us to help them breathe new life and activity into a site with significant industrial heritage and help transform it into a state-of-the-art facility focused on keeping South Australians connected.”
Targeting a 5-Star Green Star rating, the hub will incorporate advanced sortation and on-road sustainability technology, positioning it as a flagship for Australia Post’s modernised, lower-emissions parcel network.
