Vantrue E1 Pro Dash Cam Review

By June Ramli

Sydney, July 9: A few weeks ago, I had the chance to try out the Vantrue E1 Pro dash cam, and I’ve been impressed with its performance from the get-go. What sets this dash cam apart is its ability to capture footage both inside and outside the car — a major plus for occasional rideshare drivers like myself who value added security on the road.
I already had a dash cam installed to capture the exterior of my car, so this time around, I decided to use the Vantrue E1 Pro to record the interior instead — a great option for rideshare scenarios. One of the standout features of the E1 Pro is its dual capability to monitor both inside and outside the vehicle, offering peace of mind from all angles.
To ensure everything worked smoothly, I had the camera professionally installed by Bruce, a dash cam specialist who kindly saw me after hours. He configured it so that the E1 Pro only activates when the car is in motion — a smart move, since most dash cams are wired to the car’s battery, and having too many devices running continuously could quickly drain it. The installation took less than an hour and cost me just $80. Bruce did a stellar job, and I’d happily recommend his services to anyone needing a reliable installer.

Easy to Use with Smart App Integration

The device is also incredibly easy to use. It requires pairing with your smartphone through the Vantrue app, which is user-friendly and makes setup and management a breeze. You can adjust settings, view footage, and download video clips directly from your phone without needing to remove the memory card — a major convenience for busy drivers.

Compact Yet Powerful

The E1 Pro lives up to Vantrue’s tagline — “Mini & 4K Mighty.” Roughly the size of a car key, this ultra-compact dash cam packs a serious punch with its 4K resolution at 30FPS, powered by the Sony IMX678 sensor. Despite its small size, the camera delivers exceptionally sharp and clear footage.
The 158° wide-angle lens captures more of the road and surroundings, including license plates, road signs, and pedestrian activity. During the day, the included CPL filter effectively reduces glare and windshield reflections, offering a cleaner viewing experience.

Superior Night Vision & Detail Recognition

The E1 Pro excels at night as well, thanks to Vantrue’s STARVIS 2 sensor and F1.8 7-glass lens. It records high-clarity footage in low-light conditions, and with the PlatePix™ technology, it captures license plates even on fast-moving vehicles — up to 35mph — with impressive accuracy. Compared to standard HDR dash cams, the E1 Pro is noticeably sharper and more detailed.

Smart 24/7 Parking Protection

Another standout feature is its intelligent parking mode. With buffered motion detection, it records 15 seconds before and 30 seconds after any motion is detected, providing full context for incidents. It also includes collision detection, low bitrate, and low frame rate recording options — all of which help conserve storage while ensuring critical events are captured.

Final Verdict:
If you’re looking for a powerful, compact dash cam with crystal-clear video quality, smart safety features, and seamless smartphone connectivity, the Vantrue E1 Pro ticks all the boxes. Whether you’re a commuter or an occasional rideshare driver, this little device brings peace of mind to every journey — day or night.
