Budget-Friendly Work Headset

By June Ramli

Sydney, June 18: If you’re working from home, in a hybrid setup, or even just hopping in and out of video calls all day, then a good headset isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s essential.
I recently tested out the IMPACT 100 Series by EPOS, and to put it simply: it ticks all the boxes for an everyday headset that won’t break the bank.
Priced at AUD 95 across the board—whether you go for the Mono MS, Stereo MS, or the UC Stereo version—this is hands down one of the most affordable and well-built headsets in its category.
It’s the kind of gear that makes sense for remote workers, freelancers, and even students who just need something solid and reliable.
What stood out immediately was the plug-and-play convenience.
All models come with both USB-C and USB-A support, thanks to the included adapter. Whether you’re using a new laptop or an older desktop, it’s ready to go.
No extra cables.
No extra fuss.
The sound quality is surprisingly sharp, especially for voice and video calls.
The stereo version also holds its own for light music listening during breaks.
There’s a noise-cancelling mic that helps cut out background chatter—a real lifesaver when you’re trying to sound professional with the dog barking in the background.
Comfort-wise, this headset is a win. It’s super lightweight (only 76g for the stereo and just 51g for the mono), with leatherette ear pads that don’t get sweaty even after hours of wear.
The soft silicone headband is a nice touch—it stays in place and doesn’t dig into your head.

Your work-from-home essential: lightweight, clear audio, dual-plug ready. The IMPACT 100 makes remote life easier.

You’ve also got intuitive call controls with backlit buttons right on the cable, making it easy to mute yourself or end a call without fumbling.
It’s certified for Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, and Webex, which gives you peace of mind that it’ll work seamlessly across your favourite platforms.
From a design standpoint, it’s simple and sleek—all black, nothing flashy, which I personally prefer.
It doesn’t scream “gamer headset,” and that’s perfect for professional use.
You can wear the mic on either the left or right side, thanks to the 270° flexible boom arm.
Durability also seems to be a strong point.
The materials feel solid, not flimsy like other budget headsets I’ve tried in the past. It comes with a carry pouch, which is useful if you’re moving between locations or working on the go.
All three models retail for the same price, so your choice depends on your preference: mono for one-ear focus, stereo for immersive calls and sound, and the UC version if you want broader platform certification.
Either way, you’re getting a lot of value for the price.
In short, if you’re after an affordable, high-quality headset that doesn’t need a tech degree to set up and just gets the job done—this is it.
The IMPACT 100 series is ideal for daily use, and it won’t blow your budget.
This is the headset I’d recommend to anyone who works remotely and needs something reliable, comfortable, and easy to use—without the premium price tag.
