Bedshed Misleads on NDIS
Sydney, May 21: Bedshed Franchising Pty Ltd has paid $39,600 in penalties after the ACCC issued two infringement notices for allegedly misleading consumers by advertising certain products as “NDIS approved” and “NDIS permitted.” The ACCC clarified that the NDIS does not endorse specific goods or services, and such claims may exploit vulnerable consumers. This enforcement action follows the ACCC’s 2024 warning to businesses about misleading advertising targeting NDIS participants. The ACCC, along with other agencies, is part of a government taskforce addressing pricing and compliance issues within the NDIS sector.
ABEA Strengthens Industry Ties
Sydney, May 21: The Australian Business Events Association (ABEA) has formed ten strategic partnerships in under two years, signalling increased industry collaboration and ABEA’s rising influence. CEO Melissa Brown says the partnerships position the business events sector within key decision-making forums and distinguish it from sister industries like tourism. Current partners include Austrade, Business Events Australia, COSBOA, and several global organisations such as ICCA, AIPC, UFI, and IAPCO. ABEA is also in ongoing talks to further expand its network and influence.
Kingston Showcases AI Future
Sydney, May 21: Kingston Technology returns to COMPUTEX 2025 under the theme “Kingston Powers Tomorrow: Committed to the AI Future,” unveiling its immersive Kingston Future City showroom. The exhibit features innovations across three key zones: the Kingston Intelligence Hub, FURY Acceleration Centre, and Innovative Creators Lab. New products include the Kingston FURY Renegade G5 SSD, DC3000ME SSD, and high-speed DDR5 memory modules. Highlighting real-world AI applications, Kingston partners with Taiwan Intelligent Robotics Company and the Rocket Technology Exploration Team (RTET) to showcase cutting-edge use cases from industrial robots to aerospace.
