Malaysia Airlines Expands Partnerships

Kuala Lumpur, May 2: Malaysia Airlines has signed three new Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with global trade partners to expand its international footprint and enhance the travel experience across key segments.
The agreements, formed with Air Promotion Group (APG), StudentUniverse, and ATPI (Advanced Travel Partners International), mark a strategic move by the national carrier to reach a broader audience through tailored market offerings.
The collaboration with APG, one of the world’s largest airline representation networks, will see Malaysia Airlines joining the APG Platform—an NDC (New Distribution Capability) portal that allows for the distribution of rich content.
This move aims to strengthen Malaysia Airlines’ position in offline markets, particularly by improving access for travel agents in over 150 countries.
Meanwhile, the partnership with StudentUniverse, the leading student travel platform, will formally recognize Malaysia Airlines as a Global Airline Partner.
The agreement will offer exclusive student fares and packages, with a focus on growing the airline’s share in the student travel segment.
The partnership, which began in 2024, has already seen strong revenue returns from markets such as Australia, the UK, and the US.
In a third MoU, Malaysia Airlines appointed ATPI as its preferred marine travel partner for a year-long period from 1 May 2025 to 30 April 2026.
This move is aimed at strengthening the airline’s presence in the marine and energy travel sectors.
By combining ATPI’s industry-specific reach and Malaysia Airlines’ network, the airline seeks to position itself as a key carrier for marine and offshore professionals.
The new agreements form part of Malaysia Airlines’ broader efforts to diversify its customer base and drive global commercial growth through targeted collaborations.
