A New Way to Watch With Subtitles — Now Live on Netflix

Sydney, April 15: Netflix is rolling out a new way to experience subtitles, starting with the release of YOU Season 5 on April 25, 2025. With nearly half of all Netflix viewing hours in the US including subtitles or captions, and 50 percent of Americans saying they regularly watch content with subtitles, the platform is making subtitle options even more user-friendly.
Until now, viewers who wanted subtitles in the original language had to rely on Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (SDH/CC), which include not only dialogue but also sound cues like [phone buzzing] and [dramatic music swells], along with speaker names. Recognising that many viewers simply want to follow the spoken words without added elements, Netflix has introduced a cleaner subtitle option that shows only the dialogue.
When users open the language picker while watching new shows, they will now see two English subtitle options: “English”, which includes just the spoken dialogue, and “English (CC)”, which retains the traditional SDH/CC format. This feature is launching with new titles moving forward and will be available in every language Netflix offers.
Whether viewers are watching in a noisy environment, trying not to wake someone, or just prefer a simpler viewing experience, the new subtitle choices offer more flexibility. Users can also continue to customise subtitle appearance, including size and font.

The 120 million new shares were listed on Bursa Malaysia on 23 April 2025. Skyload Express Sdn Bhd has emerged as a new substantial shareholder, alongside others including Empire Solaris Sdn Bhd, Lee Kim Hai, Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei, and Datuk Seri Lee Hock Seng.
The land will be developed into a new commercial project near central Kuala Lumpur.
AFP Cracks Down at Airports
Sydney, April 27: A West Australian woman who allegedly assaulted two AFP officers and airline crew was among 217 incidents the Australian Federal Police responded to during a major Easter crackdown across nine of the country’s airports. High-visibility patrols were ramped up between 18 and 21 April, 2025, leading to charges against three individuals at Adelaide, Sydney, and Canberra airports, and official cautions issued to 10 others. Incidents included intoxicated and disruptive behaviour, possession of prohibited items, illicit drugs, and breaches of security protocols. One Adelaide man was charged with threatening and assaulting security guards, while a WA woman was charged for alleged assaults against AFP officers and airline staff following disruptive behaviour on a flight from New Zealand. The AFP said it would continue to take swift action against airport disruptions to ensure the safety of travellers and staff.
