Logitech Backs Unihack 2025

Sydney, March 3: Unihack, Australia’s largest student hackathon, is set to return for its 12th year from 14-16 March 2025, with Logitech Australia joining as the major sponsor. The event will bring together 600 students from Australia and New Zealand, making it the biggest competition in Unihack’s history.
The 48-hour hackathon challenges university students to design, build, and pitch a functioning prototype—whether a website, mobile app, video game, or hardware solution. Participants must ensure their projects are fully operational when presented.
“Unihack is a non-profit organisation driven entirely by dedicated volunteers. Each year, we welcome tertiary students from across ANZ to take part in the competition, providing them with a dynamic and supportive environment to explore their potential alongside their peers,” said Terence Huynh, Sponsorship Lead at Unihack.
Last year, 447 students from 18 universities participated in Unihack. Many past winners have secured jobs at major tech firms, including Meta, Canva, AWS, and Google. The event has become a recognised pathway for students looking to transition from university into the tech industry.
“Unihack is more than just a competition, it’s a dynamic platform that empowers students to apply their skills beyond the classroom. Logitech’s support is instrumental in elevating this experience, enabling us to uncover the brightest young tech talent in the region,” Huynh said.
Logitech Australia’s involvement highlights the increasing corporate interest in talent emerging from university hackathons. The company, known for its work in gaming, computing, video, and music solutions, sees the event as an opportunity to engage with the next generation of industry leaders.
“Logitech is committed to identifying and supporting future industry leaders. Through Unihack, we can engage with some of the brightest minds and provide them with the tools they need to turn their ideas into reality,” said Marisol Vargas, Senior Cluster Category Manager at Logitech ANZ.
As the hackathon landscape grows in prominence, backing from industry leaders like Logitech signals a broader push to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry application.
