Sydney, Jan 30: A high-end motor yacht worth $3 million is up for grabs in an extraordinary auction, starting at just $1 with no reserve. The 72-foot vessel, a 2014 Horizon V72, sustained significant damage during a major weather event on the Gold Coast last year.
Since its listing, interest has surged, with potential buyers eager to inspect the yacht.
“The phones have been ringing off the hook since we listed the vessel. We’ve had to dedicate a team member almost full-time to handle the overwhelming number of inspection inquiries,” said Lee Hames, Chief Operations Officer at Lloyds Auctions.
The yacht presents a rare chance for experienced boat builders or enthusiasts to restore a luxury vessel to its former state.
“This is the perfect opportunity for someone who recognises the value in the strong bones of this magnificent yacht,” Hames added.
While the yacht’s final selling price remains uncertain, bidders could secure a high-value asset for a fraction of its worth.
“The truth is, we have no idea what this yacht will sell for at auction. This situation is entirely unprecedented in the marine auction scene, we’ll see where it lands on auction day, January 31,” Mr. Hames noted.
The vessel accommodates six guests across three cabins and is known for its sleek design and spacious entertainment areas.
The auction will close on Friday, January 31, at 7 PM, with bids accepted at lloydsauctions.com.au.
