Musical Treasures to Raise RM300k for Cancer Research

Kuala Lumpur, Jan 8: Musical Treasures, a musical production led by acclaimed producer Farah Dato’ Seri Sulaiman, will take the stage on 18 and 19 January at The Platform, Menara KEN TTDI.
Featuring over 50 performers, including special appearances by Ning Baizura and Dato’ Leonard Tan, the event aims to raise RM300,000 for Cancer Research Malaysia (CRMY).
Proceeds will support CRMY’s efforts in cancer research, early detection, and treatment access.
Donations above RM50 are eligible for tax exemption.
CRMY achieved key milestones in 2024, including receiving the Wellcome Trust Award for breast cancer research, launching the MeMoSA® mobile app for early oral cancer screening, and developing Malaysia’s first oral cancer vaccine.
Its Patient Navigation Programme was also recognised by the World Health Organisation, with new Pink Ribbon Centres planned to open by Q1 2025.

Sydney, Jan 10: This January, the Parliament of NSW is offering free guided tours every weekday at 11:30 am and 1:30 pm. The Public Cafe is open daily, and the ‘Legacy and Evolution’ exhibition, marking the Bicentenary of the Legislative Council, runs until 24 January 2025. FemTech Accelerator Launched
Kuala Lumpur, Jan 10: 1337 Ventures has launched Alpha Startups™ Inno4Her, Southeast Asia’s first femtech-focused accelerator, aiming to foster innovation in women’s health. The eight-week programme, open to startups at any stage, will help participants validate ideas, achieve product-market fit, and prepare for fundraising. Areas of focus include personalized healthcare, menopause, menstrual health, maternal care, fertility, and wearables.
Mentors from key industry players, including Doc On Call and BabyDash, will provide guidance. The programme will conclude with a demo day where startups pitch to investors. Applications close on 6 February 2025, with the cohort starting later that month.

Tennis Action Returns to Singapore with STO 2025
Singapore, Jan 24: The Singapore Tennis Open (STO) 2025 kicks off this week at the Kallang Tennis Hub (KTH), offering tennis fans a mix of world-class matches and community activities.
The WTA 250 tournament features free qualifying rounds on January 25 and 26, with prominent players like Zhu Lin of China and Alexandra Eala from the Philippines vying for a spot in the main draw.
Top stars, including Emma Raducanu and Elise Mertens, will battle it out from January 27 to February 2.
The event also debuts the Singapore Tennis Invitational Cup (STIC), showcasing 32 players from Southeast Asia across multiple categories from January 28 to February 1. Matches for the STIC are free to attend.
Fans can enjoy interactive tennis activities, meet WTA legends Tamarine Tanasugarn and Yayuk Basuki, and join youth-focused tennis clinics at the Fan Village.

Daniel Muggleton Returns

Sydney, Jan 30: Australian comedian Daniel Muggleton has announced his 2025 festival dates for You May Be White, I May Be Crazy, presented by A-List Entertainment. Following the success of his televised special White & Wrong (Channel Seven) and national tour Blinded by the Whites, Muggleton’s new show explores themes of family—or possibly street racing.
Known for his sharp social commentary and quick-witted crowdwork, Muggleton has earned critical acclaim, selling out shows at comedy festivals worldwide. His past stand-up specials Let’s Never Hang Out (ABC) and White & Wrong (Seven) are streaming on Amazon Prime.

Free Gelato at Coogee
