Sydney, Dec 17: Dreamworld has officially implemented a full ban on human interactions with tigers, bringing an end to direct contact between staff and the animals.
This decision, first flagged two years ago, marks significant progress in how Dreamworld presents its tigers to the public.
The move follows the 2022 release of World Animal Protection’s Too Close For Comfort report, which criticized practices like handlers feeding tigers milk from bottles, portraying them more as pets or performers than apex predators.

In response, Dreamworld committed to phasing out such shows and transitioning to a non-direct interaction model.
This latest development has been welcomed as a win for tiger welfare and reflects a broader shift in public sentiment toward ethical wildlife tourism.
World Animal Protection continues to urge Dreamworld to review other wildlife practices, such as koala cuddling, in line with modernized industry standards and tourist expectations.
