Kuala Lumpur, Sept 12: Taobao Malaysia has launched its beta English interface, making it easier for Malaysian shoppers to access the platform.
This move is aimed at breaking down language barriers and enhancing the shopping experience for local users.
The new interface is available alongside Singapore’s version and is powered by artificial intelligence (AI), offering automatic translations and dual-language customer support.
The initiative is designed to cater to the growing demand for an English option, allowing Malaysian users to enjoy a more seamless shopping experience.
Taobao’s platform also offers estimated Ringgit Malaysia (RM) price conversions and a simplified interface to match local shopping habits.
Country Manager for Tmall Taobao World, Malaysia, Jess Lew, explained the launch is driven by local demand, with the goal of reducing language barriers and improving customer satisfaction.
The platform supports multiple payment options, including debit/credit cards, e-wallets, and online banking, with an instalment option available through Antom.
Cainiao, Taobao’s logistics partner, ensures efficient deliveries and order tracking, providing a smooth and reliable experience for shoppers.
With Malaysia ranking third in Asia for English proficiency, this new feature targets the country’s over 20 million English-literate users.
Tmall Taobao World General Manager Jianqiu Ye noted the platform aims to break geographical boundaries and enhance accessibility for global shoppers.
To celebrate the launch, Taobao is offering limited-time benefits, including free air shipping on fashion purchases above RMB199, new user perks, and free returns on first orders.
Customers are also encouraged to provide feedback to help refine the service.
