Sony Unveils FE 85mm F1.4 GM II Lens

Sony has announced the FE 85mm F1.4 GM II lens, a next-generation full-frame E-mount lens that combines high resolution with stunning bokeh and fast autofocus.
The lens, which is about 20 per cent lighter and 13 per cent smaller in volume than its predecessor, features two XA and two ED lenses to suppress aberrations and enhance image quality. With an advanced autofocus system, it’s up to three times faster and offers improved tracking performance, making it ideal for portrait photography and cinematic video.
The lens will be available in Australia from today priced at $3,099.

Intel has unveiled its new Xeon W-3500 and W-2500 desktop workstation processors, led by the powerful 60-core Xeon w9-3595X.
These processors, designed for professional creators, researchers, engineers, and developers, deliver advanced compute power and reliability.
“Today, we’re excited to roll out our latest workstation products, the Intel Xeon W-3500 and Intel Xeon W-2500 processors, to meet the demanding compute needs of professional innovators around the globe,” said Roger Chandler, Intel vice president.
Available for order starting from August 28, with prices ranging from $609 to $5,889.

Lenovo Launches Hybrid Cloud Advisory Services

Lenovo has introduced its Hybrid Cloud Advisory Services, designed to help enterprises streamline hybrid cloud design and develop implementation-ready, future-proofed plans in as few as six weeks. These services, supported by Lenovo’s four decades of expertise, aim to accelerate time to value, improve cost efficiency, and build scalable foundations.

Epson, HKRITA Develop Fibre Recycling

Epson has partnered with The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA) to advance fibre recycling technology using Epson’s proprietary Dry Fibre Technology.
The collaboration aims to tackle the challenge of defibrating hard-to-recycle fabrics like tightly woven textiles and elastic blends, which are common in apparel.
This new technology could significantly boost the use of recycled fibres in clothing, supporting global sustainability efforts.
Epson’s Dry Fibre Technology is central to the company’s environmental initiatives, which also include recycling paper and developing durable recycled plastics.

IBM and Intel have announced a global collaboration to deploy Intel® Gaudi® 3 AI accelerators on IBM Cloud, expected to be available in early 2025.
This partnership aims to scale enterprise AI more cost-effectively while ensuring security and resiliency. IBM Cloud will be the first cloud service provider to adopt Gaudi 3, supporting both hybrid and on-premise environments.
The collaboration will also enable Gaudi 3 integration within IBM’s watsonx AI platform, enhancing AI capabilities for enterprise clients.
The offering will be generally available at the start of 2025.
