Huggies Launches Toddler Spa

Amid the juggling act of parenthood, ensuring your toddler’s skin remains as precious as it was on day one can be challenging.
A recent survey of over 1,000 Australian parents revealed that 60 per cent consider their toddler’s skin to be as delicate as a newborn’s, while 84 per cent struggle to prioritise skin health.
To assist parents, Dr. Michela Sorensen, a children’s health expert, offers simple yet effective toddler skincare tips.

Dr. Sorensen’s Six Simple Toddler Skincare Tips:

Keep Bath time Short and Sweet: While toddlers love baths, long baths can dry out their skin, weakening the skin barrier. Keep bath time to 10-15 minutes tops, no more than once per day.

Use Gentle Cleansers: Soaps can be incredibly drying, especially for delicate toddler skin. Use gentle cleansers free from fragrances and harsh chemicals for both bath time and hand and face washing.

Moisture is Key: Moisturising after a bath helps protect your toddler’s skin barrier and maintain skin integrity. Look for fragrance-free, non-irritating options. If your toddler is prone to skin issues, ointments are often better as they have fewer added ingredients and are less likely to sting.

But Not in the Wrong Areas: Ensure your toddler’s nappy is of good quality, with fast absorbency that keeps the skin dry.

Do Regular Skin Checks: Check between the skin folds at each nappy change. If you notice redness or dry skin, apply a good barrier cream to prevent painful nappy rash.

Get Them Involved: Toddlers love mimicking actions. Let them get involved in their skincare routine by putting a little moisturiser on their hands and showing them how to rub it in. This makes the routine more enjoyable and engaging for them.

The research was conducted online by Pureprofile in 2024 and surveyed over 1,000 Australian parents with children aged one- five years old.
