Malaysia’s First Animation IPO

Kuala Lumpur, July 25: Malaysia’s first publicly listed 2D animation production company, Kucingko Berhad, made an impressive debut today on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad.
Shares opened at RM0.805, a striking 168.33 per cent premium over the IPO price of RM0.30 per share.
Specializing in high-quality 2D animation for global broadcasters and streaming platforms, Kucingko is now traded under the stock name “KUCINGKO” with the code “0315”.
As one of Malaysia’s largest animation producers, Kucingko has garnered international acclaim, including a BAFTA nomination and several other awards.
The IPO raised RM30.0 million in gross proceeds, allocated as follows: RM17.8 million for capacity expansion, RM4.4 million for a U.S. sales office, RM4.2 million for working capital, and RM3.6 million for listing expenses.
Executive Director See Chin Joo remarked, “This successful listing is a major milestone, reflecting market confidence in the animation industry and in Kucingko’s profitability. We are excited about expanding our production capacity and global reach, particularly in North America.”
Executive Director Ooi Kok Hong added, “Our goal is to continue delivering high-quality content for TV and streaming platforms. This listing supports our efforts to invest in local talent and collaborate with universities and state agencies to nurture skilled professionals.”
