I recently got my hands on the Uniden Dash View 60R Smart Dash Cam, and I must say, it’s quite an impressive piece of technology designed for Australian road conditions.
Built with Japanese engineering technology, its slim and stylish design can be discreetly positioned inside the car, adding a touch of luxury to the in-car experience.
The Dash View 60R is a next-generation smart dash camera that comes with a 4K video resolution front camera and a 2K Super HD rear camera, both equipped with a 140-degree wide-angle lens.
The addition of Sony’s Starvis Image Sensor, with back-illuminated pixel technology and WDR, ensures optimum video quality in both bright and low-light conditions.
This is particularly beneficial for those night drives, providing clearer vision even in near-infrared light regions.
One of the standout features for me is the supercapacitor.
Unlike traditional lithium-ion batteries, the supercapacitor offers a longer battery lifespan and can withstand the harsh Australian climate.
This feature ensures that any recording in progress is safely stored before the camera powers off, giving me peace of mind during long journeys.
The WiFi function is another game-changer.
It allows direct transfer of footage to my smartphone or tablet via the Uniden app, making it super convenient to preview and record without fiddling with the micro SD card.
This feature alone has saved me a lot of hassle after each trip.
The Speed & Red Light Camera Warnings are built-in and alert you to upcoming fixed speed cameras and red-light cameras, reminding you to slow down.
This feature has been incredibly useful in keeping my driving record clean.
Despite all these fantastic features, I did struggle a bit with the setup.
The instructions weren’t as clear as I had hoped, and it took me a while to get everything up and running. However, once set up, the Dash View 60R performed exceptionally well.
The WDR function balanced light perfectly on high-contrast days and bright nights, and the footage lock protection ensured my recordings were safe.
The hard wire kit included for the Parking Mode feature is a thoughtful addition.
It records when the car is parked and the engine is off, which is ideal for shopping centers and parking lots.
The inbuilt sensor detects sudden vibrations, waking the dash cam to start recording for a limited time.
Overall, despite the initial setup challenges, the Uniden Dash View 60R has proven to be a reliable and high-quality smart dash cam.
Its sleek, compact design, combined with over 50 years of Uniden’s engineering excellence, makes it a top choice for anyone looking to invest in a smart dash cam.
