FedEx Launches E-commerce Guides

Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, has released two cross-border e-commerce handbooks to aid small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in engaging with consumers in China and Japan.
China and Japan, the largest markets in the Asia Pacific region, offer significant opportunities for SMEs. To navigate these markets effectively, businesses must understand the unique digital landscapes, consumer preferences, and logistics requirements.
FedEx, leveraging its extensive experience in these markets, developed the handbooks available on its website. Each e-book provides:

  • A geographic overview of consumer landscapes for targeted business strategies.
  • Key e-commerce product categories to identify competition and underserved sectors.
  • Profiles of local e-commerce platforms to maximize online presence.
  • Insights into consumer habits and marketing strategies like livestreaming and social commerce.
  • Information on peak shopping seasons and local payment and delivery preferences.

Kawal Preet, president Asia Pacific, FedEx, emphasized the importance of local insights for successful market entry. “Finding new customers in international markets is a smart approach for SMEs wanting to drive consumer and revenue growth. Digital channels lower the barriers for market entry, but the best business strategies are underpinned by smart, local market insights. That’s critical in sectors like e-commerce which move incredibly quickly.”
FedEx offers end-to-end e-commerce solutions, integrating with major marketplaces like eBay and BigCommerce. Recent enhancements to its Ship Manager platform streamline order fulfillment, while a network of 260,000 smart lockers and communication options via WeChat and WhatsApp enhance delivery convenience.
