Countdown to Paris 2024

The Eiffel Tower will be adorned with the Olympic Rings, marking its significance for the Paris 2024 Games.
“In the world of the Games, we call these giant Rings ‘Spectaculars,’ and I can’t think of anything more spectacular than the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower is Paris, it’s the face of France. We wanted to offer a sight to remember,” Tony Estanguet, President of Paris 2024 said.
Previously, the Olympic Rings have been placed in iconic locations such as Tower Bridge in London (2012), Madureira Park in Rio (2016), and Odaiba Bay in Tokyo (2021).
For Paris 2024, the Eiffel Tower will host events at the Eiffel Tower Stadium (beach volleyball), Arena Champ de Mars (judo, wrestling), and Pont d’Iéna (road cycling).
It will also serve as the backdrop for Champions’ Park at the Trocadéro, and inspire the podiums and medals, which will contain pieces of its original iron.
On the night of 6 to 7 June, teams from ArcelorMittal, a Paris 2024 Official Partner, along with the Société d’Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel and Paris 2024, worked to install the massive Olympic Rings.
The installation required four cranes and around thirty people to hoist the rings, which measure 29 meters wide and 13 meters high.
