Box Office Movie Boom

Sydney, June 3: The National Australian Box Office experienced a strong performance over the weekend, totalling $10.75 million, which represents a 17 per cent increase from the previous weekend.

Top Five Films:

The lasagna-loving cat in The Garfield Movie nabbed the top spot, bringing in $2.96 million in its first weekend, with a cumulative box office of $3.09 million, including preview screenings. Second place this weekend goes to Chris Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which earned $2.29 million in its second week. The family comedy IF came in third with $1.31 million, while Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is still holding strong, coming in at number four with $1.07 million this weekend. Rounding out the top five is Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt in The Fall Guy, which brought in $577,000, taking its cumulative box office to over $13 million in six weeks.

Upcoming Releases:

June 6 sees the return of Miami’s finest in Bad Boys: Ride or Die. This year’s installment blends thrilling action with the signature comedy of the Bad Boys, but with a twist: they are now fugitives. Available in D-BOX, this film promises an immersive experience where your seat moves in sync with the on-screen action. Also releasing on June 6 is The Watchers, marking the directorial debut of Ishana Night Shyamalan, daughter of renowned filmmaker M. Knight Shyamalan. A young artist gets stranded in a forest in western Ireland, where she, along with three strangers, is stalked by mysterious creatures each night. This edge-of-your-seat experience is also available in D-BOX and will premiere at the HOYTS Horror Night.
On June 7, several international films will premiere. Ni Main Sass Kuttni 2 (Punjabi, English Subtitles) continues the comedic and dramatic saga of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationships. Hovering Blade (Mandarin, English Subtitles) follows a single father, Li Chang Feng, who seeks revenge after his daughter is abused and killed by minors. Both films will screen at select HOYTS locations.
June 13 brings Inside Out 2, where Disney and Pixar dive back into Riley’s mind as a teenager, introducing new emotions amidst unexpected changes. Available in D-BOX Motion Recliners, this sequel promises a delightful viewing experience. Also releasing on June 13 is The Exorcism, a horror film about a troubled actor unraveling during a film shoot.
June 20 features the release of Despicable Me 4, where Gru and his family welcome a new member, Gru Jr., who is set on tormenting his dad while Gru faces a new nemesis. This film is also available in D-BOX for an engaging experience. 42nd Street The Musical will be screened in the largest-ever production of the show at select HOYTS locations for matinee sessions on June 21, 23, 24, and 25. The Convert and GHOST: RITE HERE RITE NOW will also premiere on June 20.
The Convert follows a lay preacher in the 1830s whose violent past is questioned. GHOST: RITE HERE RITE NOW is more than a concert movie, filmed over GHOST’s two sold-out shows at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum.
On June 27, A Quiet Place: Day One will take viewers back to the day the world went quiet, providing a gripping narrative on the origins of silence and survival. This prequel is a must-see in D-BOX for an elevated experience. The Mountain, a heartfelt drama about three children seeking healing, and Blue Lock The Movie – Episode Nagi (Japanese, English Subtitles), which follows Seishiro Nagi before entering the Blue Lock facility, will also screen at select HOYTS locations.
