Sydney, May 8: Victor le Masne has been appointed as the Musical Director for the four ceremonies of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games and as the Composer of the Official Musical Theme. Known for his innovative approach in music, le Masne has crafted the Official Musical Theme, “Parade,” blending symphonic and electronic elements to capture the dynamic spirit of the Games.
The theme will debut on May 8 at 7:30 pm in Marseille, coinciding with the arrival of the Olympic Flame. This special performance will feature the Marseille orchestra live at the Palais du Pharo, kicking off the Games’ celebrations throughout France.
The theme, recorded with the Orchestre National de France and the Chœur et Maitrise de Radio France, will be heard at key moments of the Games and is designed to evoke the emotions associated with sport. It will be adapted in various versions to match different moments of the Games.
Victor le Masne expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I am honoured and excited to contribute to the unforgettable experience of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games as Composer of the Official Musical Theme and Musical Director of the Ceremonies. Le Masne is collaborating with Thomas Jolly on the ceremonies, building a unique sound identity for each, based on the Official Musical Theme.
This collaboration follows their previous work on the rock opera “Starmania.” Additionally, le Masne had earlier impressed with a re-orchestration of the Marseillaise for the handover ceremony between the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Games.
