ICONSIAM Celebrates Songkran Heritage

Sydney, April 15: Bangkok’s iconic ICONSIAM is set to dazzle over 2 million visitors with the “THE ICONIC SONGKRAN FESTIVAL 2024” from April 10 to April 21.
This grand celebration along the Chao Phraya River coincides with the Thai New Year and comes shortly after Songkran was designated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, promising a historic festival filled with cultural significance and modern entertainment.
Supoj Chaiwatsirikul, Managing Director of ICONSIAM Company Limited, expressed excitement about the upcoming festivities. “Hosting the Songkran event this year will be more enjoyable and memorable than ever before,” he said.
According to Mr. Chaiwatsirikul, the event is set to honor Thai cultural heritage by merging traditional Thai recreational activities with contemporary elements, catering to both locals and tourists globally.
The festival will feature the Songkran Mahothorndevi Parade, a seven-day float procession showcasing the cultural richness of Thailand.
The parade will highlight appearances by top Thai celebrities including Aff Taksaorn, Pie Rinrada, Becky Rebecca, Bella Ranee, Mai Davika, Diana Flipo, and internationally renowned Thai artist Minnie from the South Korean girl group (G)I-DLE as Miss Songkran 2024.
Adding to the cultural festivities, ICONSIAM will host a replica of the Phra Buddha Sihing from Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan in Chiang Mai for a traditional water-pouring ceremony at the G Floor, ICONLUXE Zone.
This ritual, believed to bring good luck and prosperity, invites participants to pour water over one of Thailand’s most revered Buddha images.
Furthermore, the Water Splash Landmark at River Park will offer unique water splashing activities, providing a picturesque setting for this enjoyable tradition.
The location will also feature mini-concerts and other cultural performances, creating a vibrant atmosphere for visitors.
“The ICONIC SONGKRAN FESTIVAL 2024” at ICONSIAM not only aims to draw in millions from around the world but also to boost tourism and economic growth for Thailand.
By blending traditional practices with modern entertainment, ICONSIAM hopes to present a joyful and culturally enriching experience that continues the legacy of the Songkran Festival as a cherished world heritage.
This 12-day event is a testament to Thailand’s rich cultural tapestry and ICONSIAM’s commitment to celebrating and preserving it.
